Threading a barrel effect on harmonics/accuracy

I know most folks seem to think fluting a barrel after it's been finished and fired can significantly change its harmonics and potentially effect accuracy but I can't find much discussion on just threading a barrel post finishing and installing.

I suppose any material removal will change the harmonics but would the little removed to thread 5/8 x 24 make a significant difference?

I wouldn't think the threading of it would. Same length. Adding a muzzle brake or suppressor would change it. Would need to rework your load slightly.

Like you say, there's likely some change due to removing mass. Whether it's enough change to be realized on target is another story, I would lean toward the side of not enough impact to worry about. There will likely be more change due to the extra weight of the brake/suppressor/etc that you're screwing onto it.

Are you worried about screwing up a well tuned load?

Yes. I would expect a POI shift with the suppressor but I'd hate to have to rework the whole load. I'm on the high end node and don't remember where the next step down was.

It's really hard to say........I have a SUPER ACCURATE Kimber Mountain Ascent in .300 WSM. At 300 yards with factory muzzle brake attached it's well under 1/2 MOA consistently, like 1/3 MOA if I'm having a good day. Remove brake and put muzzle protector on and it's 3 MOA or more.....

Potentially having to rework the load is just the price we must pay for the advantage of brakes & suppressors. Maybe you'll get lucky and the same load will shoot just as well with the suppressor? In my short experience with a suppressor so far it hasn't screwed with my groups too badly.
