Not sure if title is correct but how are you guys carrying extra rounds in the field? I was looking for a hard case of some sort to carry 4-6 rounds in. Running the longer bullets I w as concerned with just a soft case where pressure from anything in my pack could affect concentricity? Any ideas?

I use a single shot pistol in 20 cal & 223. The best thing I have found so far are the arm bands, bracelet or whatever you call it that will hold 5 to 8 rounds of your choice. I like the leather holder over the elastic. When I used the elastic ones they have a tendency to stretch out over a short period of time. If you use ammo such as 308, 338, etc and then want to go back to 223 etc, you'll find the elastic has stretched to a point where it doesn't really hold the ammo securely any longer.

This company Wild Boar USA has some quality made ones that work well, but they are nylon and will stretch after a while. You'll see a link on the bracelet but from what I've read he no longer sells them, but they are sold thru Wild Boar.

The one shown below is what I like now. If you notice, when it is put on the ammo is vertical to the arm instead of parallel to the arm. That's not me shooting, but Ernie Bishop the specialty pistol guru.

Whenever you decide on something, please post what you decided to use.

You looking for quick/easy access... or just spares to store in your pack?

Norma factory ammo comes in these very cool hard case things--- not sure how to describe them. They each hold 10 rounds, but can be snapped in 1/2 to hold 5--- they have this :clip style retainer that kinda has a plastic spring for tension and they "clip into the e tractor groove so they don't just fall out. They fit "families of cartridges" and can be put in a freezer ziploc baggie to keep dry in your pack. many "premium factory ammo" comes with some sort of hard plastic case like this.

Mtm also makes smaller flip style hard case that holds about 10 rounds.iirc.. they call it an "ammo wallet" .the problem with all these is they have a fixed length and won't hold rounds "loaded long" so I have reverted to soft cases for my handmade.

If you want quick access then you'll most likely want a soft case that mounts to your wrist or rifle

Murray leather in Texas..

MTM ammo wallet. I wanted the exact same thing you're looking for and this fits the bill. Hard case, thin and holds about 10 rounds. Just make sure you get the right size.

The ruger AICS mags come with a snap on cover that's kind of a nice feature. 5rds in the stick and another 5 rounds in a sealed magazine in the pack.
