Just about any bullets you can buy off the shelf, that is designed for hunting, will work on deer. ELD-X is a fine bullet. They are like pretty much all bullets, they kill when the shooter does their job!

That's a good Bullet. People make too big a deal about Bullets, there isn't a perfect one for everything and that one is in high demand, there is a reason for that.

My wife has a Weatherby Camilla in 6.5 and the 143' do ok but it it'll shoot dimes with the 130 Bergers and the 135's as well. Everything the past two years with those has been boom-flop including the really nice whitetails she shot 30 seconds apart last December. She is in the same position of likely not shooting anything over 250 so I do like the lighter bullets to get the speed up. Of all things the only bullets we had marginal performance with were Core-lokts I bought so we could shoot it right away while I was waiting on components. Grouped just over an inch and killed two deer but two boiler room shots looked like they had been shot with a field point arrow and left marginal blood trails. Never chrono'ed them but just decided to use them for practice.
Nothing wrong at all with 143 eldx....drops bears in their tracks at 150, 270, 258 yards so far.
I have used a 270 with 140 Sierras and 140SST both with excellent results. One buck was taken with 145 ELDX at 350 yards and it performed. So easy choice ELDX, SST or Sierra. Pick the one that shoots or is available or with the right price. Nothing wrong with Partition other than the premium price and is not known for accuracy.

I've killed a dozen whitetail with the 143 eldx, and it does a wonderful job if you hit them where you're supposed to. I actually think that the 6.5cm with a 143 eldx is one of the best combos out there for young people and small framed folks to kill anything under 500lbs. My wife uses it, my nephews use the same combo.

I actually decided to test the 147gr eldm bullets through my 6.5prc as a hunting round, (against my better judgment), and after hearing many well informed people talk about how well it works as a hunting round. I shot a 2.5 year old buck and a mature doe on Thanksgiving about 30 seconds apart, and the results were impressive. They entered the chest cavity and went off like a grenade. Death was almost instant, and the damage was impressive. No exit wounds. I wouldn't use them on thick skinned or thick boned animals personally, due to the total fragmentation of the bullets, but on thin skinned southern whitetail, it does a fine job.
I saw this combo on a mtn goat at 700yds on tv. It worked.
