Ive never figured out the best way to get a cerakoted bolt to cycle smoothly. Ive tried
1. 500 grit on a shotgun swab spun in the receiver
2. brass brush with red scotchbrite spun in the receiver
3. 1"x3/8"x4" steel with 600 grit for the rails
4. same steel with some 400grit paper for rails
There are always better ways. What do you gents do?

There are several bake on Teflon/Molly coatings that will solve this.

I have one at the moment with this coating on it that really works, the only other way I have been able to make a bolt really smooth was to polish it. This is what I routinely do to the Remington SPS's with there terrible flat/rough finish on them.

I have not applied them over a cerakote finish, and would suspect it would have to be removed before coating.

Thanks. The coating sounds great but do you do anything to polish the inside of the receiver and the rails? I'll definitely check out the teflon though.
edit: just looked up that coating and it wont work with cerakote since its colored. It has to be clear

Tolerances are critical here.
One needs to determine boltway clearance before Cerakote. It's going to reduce clearance minimum two thousandths, and make that four thousandths if the receiver is done as well. A decent-fitting bolt isn't going to have much more than that to begin with...

On precision bolts with two thou or less clearance, I'll relieve the center of the bolt by about five thousandths. This makes for easier running, shed foreign matter/debris easier- while still locking up tight and precise at the ends when in battery.

Cerakote Micro-Slick is a good product to reduce friction on bolts (you'd need to blast your bolt clean first):

Maybe just luck, but in my 2 experiences lots of light oil, (gasp!), & lots of cycles worked.
