6.5 PRC velocity question

I have loaded a lot of 6.5 PRCs and would recommend trying Retumbo or RL26 if you have some. The Retumbo won't reach the velocity of RL26 but has achieved the best accuracy for me. Just something to try. The only time I have found H-1000 preferred over Retumbo is with barrels less than 24". That being said my most accurate loads/nodes come in around 3000-3050 fps
with the 6.5 PRC/140 class pills. Hope this helps but I understand powders are in short
supply

I've got plenty of Retumbo and H1000 to try

Do you try N565 for 6.5 PRC, you will love it!

I am shooting 147eldms and I couldn't get good es, and sd, groups to all be good until I tuned down. I ended up @57.7 h1000 2968av 6sd 13 es. 24" savage tacticool.

H1000 was the best of retumbo h1000 and the purple enduron powder 8133 or whatever it is.
I have a guestimation feeling 58 ish as was mentioned by someone will be a possible sweet spot for the 140

Hope that helps somehow.

My 6.5 PRC is modified a bit, the throat is long, my barrel is 31" and my coal is 3.082 ref. CBTO is 2.400 on my Hornady comparator with Berger 156 EOL's, so this may not apply to most, but I am trying N570 first. I talked to Berger tech, they told me the top velocity with N570 was with max 64.1 grains, 26" barrel and coal of 2.955" at 3029 fps. I worked up from their recommended start of 57.5 at 2680 fps. I found that 64 grains completely filled the ADG case, so I stopped at 62.5 grains. Velocities were:
57.5 @ 2933, 58.5 @ 2974, 59.5 @ 3037, 60.5 @ 3094, 61.5 @ 3148, 62.5 @ 3183.
I then loaded 63.5 and got 32.43 fps. As I mentioned 64.0 filled my case, but I seated the bullet to depth, compressing the charge more than I was comfortable with. I did fire it without any problems, but the velocity went down to 3237 fps. I have not ever compressed a load like this before. Thanks to the forums I found out that a drop tube helps for this, so I made one and got the powder to settle to a decent level. I loaded 10 rounds to tryout this weekend, I am attaching a photo of the drop tube I made, maybe it will help someone.

I agree with comments about backing off the velocity and find a good node. With the ones I've worked with, it's quite similar to the 6.5x284. While higher velocities are achievable the best accuracy, ES, and barrel life are generally optimized with 140 class billets in the 2950-3000FPS. I've found that the ballistic trade-offs at the lower velocities are more perceived then real. IMO.
