Well I never underestimated the 25-06 because I had one till I went and messed up and turned it into a 257bee. Actually the only thing messed up were the deer.
I think the most under rated cartridge is the 6.5 Grendel. That little guy punches way over it's weight.
With rl26 the old 25-06 can pretty much hang with the 257bee.
Oh I did have a 25-06ai for a bit. But then I punched it out to the 257bee also.
Shep

I will date myself a bit. The first gun I bought with my own money was a tang safety M77 V in 25-06 from B.B. Pawn in Abilene Texas. It was a shooter-Bailey (the owner)helped me out with a nice used Redfield accutrac scope and I shot about everything that moved South west of Abilene from about 1988-1997. Fed a steady diet of Speer 100 grain bullets I did not have many deer/hogs or coyotes walk away. I later switched to the 117 roundnose bullet as I found a hell of a deal on 5 boxes of them, and found they shot stellar in my gun--they worked too--. I like 25WSM fell under the allure of the 257 WBY in 1997 and bought a Weatherby accumark , but still have a ton of respect for the old 25-06.

How do you like those fusions? I've shot them in several other cartridges and they have always grouped well. I just got through putting a 9 twist barrel on a 25-06. I've got a box of 120gr fusions that I'm gonna run through it before I do any handloading.

My son has a tack driver 25-06. It's murder on Javelina here in Az and deer hate it. The stock is maple.
Mine has a Maple stock as well, 117gr Sierra BTSP GK over IMR 4350 is the load it shoots best. Built on a Springfield 03A3 action and a Shilen 24" heavy sporter barrel.
