Weatherby Mark V Build?

Go bigger either 300 win or PRC make use of that great action strength.
Even better do a 30 Sherman. I just had one built. PRC improved. Great brass from Sherman and gain enough speed to make it worth goin guy from a 300 win mag.

Whats the velocity difference between 215-230 gr bullet, 300 win vs. Prc or sherman? 200 fps or more?

Depends upon the type hunting you do.
Maybe to clarify, i should say the way you go about long range hunting.
For eastern long range hunting at least you will be limited to hunting from a fixed location, usually close to your vehicle.
So why not a rifle that is more comfortable to shoot and by and large capable of better accuracy?

Unfortunately the rifles only get typically one trip out west a year. The rest is spent shooting at the range. Ive got a 6.5 CM and a 300 Win mag that will do everything I need them to do hunting wise so maybe a target rifle might be cool

I just picked mine up last week and have been hunting since. I believe it's 300 FPS over the PRC.
Which is just above the win mag.
My win mag pushes 181 hammers at 3140fps and I do t know what to expect from the Sherman as I plan to try the new absolute hammer in say a 215 ish range. Others that have the Sherman in hand or even calm them for info he is a super helpful guy. I just never saw the need to go to the PRC over my win mag with the cost of custom builds but the Sherman made it a big enough difference

The Weatherby action will fit but AG doesn't inlet for the Mark V, my Smith is inletting it, installing pillars and bedding. Was going to use original Weatherby stock but heavier barrel channel was going to make forearm weak I feared.

Looks like they are now selling them: 👍

I have five Wby rifles. The actions are one of the strongest and I like the short bolt throw. Only had one rebarreled, a 270 Wby with a Kreiger barrel. The Vanguard actions are well regarded as well.

They are but not for the magnum Mark V's. Talked to them on the phone and was told it's for their smaller actions. But still a very nice stock and great people to deal with. The 9 lug Mark V's will fit they just don't inlet for them. Mine came in just two weeks after ordering.

I built 4 rifles on Mark V actions. All wildcats. As Dosh mentioned, they are truly one of the strongest factory actions made. No matter what caliber you choose, have confidence in knowing you arguably have one of the best actions available.

I've had three Weatherby Ultralights rebarreled with Bartlein barrels. Two are now 300 Win Mags and one is a 25-06. The stocks on all three had to be opened up a little to accommodate a little larger barrel contour but that's about it. They're all three shooters and I wouldn't hesitate one bit to build off a Mark V action again.

Had a MarkV in 300weatherby rebarreled into 7mm practical(lilja barrel)
Original stock and shoots sub moa.
Wont be surprised if an other shooter would shoot far better

Their website shows that they have 15 each of stocks for the small action and the magnum actions.
How long ago did you talk to them?

This make me start thinking of bedding my markv in a new stock. McMillan or B&C?
What would the oracles pick and whats the starter considering?
