Are these things legit?

Also remember your own state regulations. The form 1 will do you no good or protection if your state has outlawed possession of a suppressors (Like Mass :(o_O

I just put two of them together yesterday after receiving my stamps on Friday. Still waiting on my last stamp to drill out the third one.
While the "Solvent Trap Kit's" I bought aren't what I'd call large centerfire round worthy, for rimfire and smaller centerfire cartridges I think they will work just fine.
I have 3 brand name 30 caliber Titanium suppressors, and a Spectre II rimfire suppressor. I built one of the new ones into a rimfire caliber, and it's just as quiet as the Spectre II suppressor. So for the price of the stamp / solvent trap - $300, it's a very good deal.
I did the other in 40 caliber for my 40 S&W carbines. It isn't very quiet shooting super sonic ammo, but I'll load up some sub sonic ammo and see if it gets quieter then.
When my other stamp arrives, I'm going to do the last one for my 223 & 6.8 SPC II AR's and see if it will work for them.

If these things work decent, and last for a good duration of use, they are worth the savings over buying a factory made suppressor. If not, it's just another one of life's lessons!

Paying 200% more for a stamp than the object costs is not a good investment. If you drill it and don't pay the stamp it's a risky move that falls into that grey area in some states, maybe not even grey. If that's what you can afford it might be worth it. I've only been around one and it was not impressive at all, borderline even a suppressor but it would probably still get you in trouble. Not worth it imo.

Like everything else in life, You need to do research before you dive into anything. I own several factory made suppressor's- Thunder Beast / Mack Brothers / Silencer Co., and they get top dollar for the suppressor's that they make.
The truth is you can buy one of several high quality Solvent Traps or separate parts kits and build your own suppressor that will work just as good for 1/2 the price.
Plus building one doing a Form 1 instead of buying one doing a Form 4, you will get your tax stamp in less time. The shortest time I ever had with a Form 4 was 4 month's. I just got 3 Form 1's approved in 2 1/2 month's.

The rimfire suppressor that I just built cost me $300 including the price of the tax stamp. I saved over $200 from what I have invested in my Spectre II and tax stamp. The sound suppression is pretty much the same.

If people don't follow the rules when it comes to building suppressor's or any other NFA Class 3 item's, then yes, you risk being arrested and going to jail. I play by the rules, and don't worry about anything that I'm doing as being illegal. If you don't modify anything before you get approved for the tax stamp, you have nothing to worry about.

Instead of being rude why not be helpful? What is the law? If somebody turns one of these into a working suppressor without following the correct procedure, and gets cought, they will in fact go to prison.

If I or anyone else that owns or has built anything that requires a tax stamp can learn what the laws are, then you can do the research on your own. It's free information, all on the BATFE website, or you can ask a local Class 3 FFL and they will tell you what you need to do.

The above bold is the key benefit, along with some cost savings.
I have some friends that have gone this route. Their Form 1 approval was less than 3 months and one day of drilling vs myself waiting a year.
all of theirs are for rim fire or pistol. Most, but not all will agree that its worth it to buy from a silencer company if using on high pressure rounds.

There are plenty of good kits that can be bought to build suppressor's that will work great on high pressure rounds. They will cost in the $500 - $700 range for the Titanium kits, plus your stamp. But you can still save $300 - $500 over a store bought suppressor, plus less wait time getting a stamp.

Time savings is key to a lot of people, especially right now with all the change coming in. I'm at over a year currently waiting for a form 4 to be approved. My longest to date, shortest was 10 mos.
