The ATN has plenty of bad reviews on amazon. Should I still buy it? Would you please share your view with me? If ATN is good. The X-sight 4K only $649 on amazon. Do you think that is good enough for a new hunter like me or I should buy a better one like ATN Thor4 almost 2K. Thanks ahead!

Have an ATN X-S 4K Pro, bought it at $750 several years ago.
Not sure about the negative reviews, as there weren't any when I bought mine.
In short, I love it.
Haven't used it in a year because so busy with work.
Pros:
  • It works extremely well.
  • Hundreds of rounds using AR15s in 6.8 SPC, 223 Wylde, and AR10/7mm-08.
  • LOVE the multiple zero store ability so I can move it between my rifles.
  • The Obsidian WiFi app worked well when I tried it, but I don't like having the WiFi on.
  • With my own IR torch, can easily see 300 yards in pitch black.
  • Battery is good for ~6 hours continuous use.
  • Love that you can forget and have NV on during the day w/o damaging the image sensor.
CONS (more like small irritations)
  • The brightness of the image hurts my eye after~2 hours (blue light). I have a Vizio TV that's much worse.
  • If you forgettherubber eye cup, its like shining a flashlight in your face. I.e you're easy to spot.
  • On rare occasion the image is grainy.
  • To me, the button menu is clunky. More than once I've reached up to adjust something while keeping sight on target and blanked my screen.
  • The IR torch that comes with it is junk. Simple enuf to get a mo' betta one.
That's all I can think of now, HTH.

Thanks so much for your so many details!!!!!

Save your money and get a thermal. I have an ATN 5-20 X-SIGHT. They work, but you will be happier with a thermal or higher quality piece. You pay for quality in scopes.
Mostly agree with P7M13 pros & cons.
That is why I pending to buy this cheap one. Thanks a lot!

My ATN has been faultless but the system has a couple of drawbacks...
One issue I have is the lasting bright rectangle in my scope eye if used too much in the dark. Another issue is the ATN is not good in dusty conditions, image quality drops off dramatically.
My next step will be Thermal.

If you have the budget, go thermal.
Also, check your local laws. About a year after I bought my ATN, found out it's illegal in my state to hunt with any kind of NV.

My advice is also do not buy ATN. I was looking at buying an ATN x-sight from my father-in-law and I was very disappointed when he let me use it before buying. I do not have a lot of experience with night vision, but I am a proponent of you get what you pay for. If you are serious about night hunting I was seriously consider doing more research and spending the money on a thermal. Just my two cents.
