Introducing the Absolute Hammer

Just ordered 50 ct each of these pills for 26-06 and 7 rem mag. Will post results on load work up as son as the wifey and I can.
90 gr. Got the quarter bore, and 140's for the 7 mm.
Usually run 4831SC in the 25-06 and H1000 in the 7mm rem mag.
Any ideas as to what powder we should run ?
I.e.
maybe H4350 or Varget in the 25-06 and end 4831sc in the 7 rem mag ?
You might want to try H100V for the 7RM.

I think H4831 is a good starting point. Should pressure out right around 100% casefill.

I would start at 65gr and work up to 71 or possibly 72gr

I bet H100V will pressure out before the case is full in a 7mm RM

Normally that would be correct, however the Absolute Hammer bullets generally have a higher max pressure level and usually require faster powders such as H100V or Stabill6.5.

Interesting. Which Absolute Hammers have you tried?

I've loaded the exact bullet @WYOHTF is inquiring about - granted it wasn't in a 7mm RM...

When I read about H100V locking up the bolt in a 280AI, it seems obvious that a slightly slower powder would be the way to go in a 7mm RM. You do realize the RM offers about 15% more case capacity, right?

StaBALL 6.5 is the ticket to get the speed bump in my 7 STW (155 AH) and 300 WM (178 AH). I found low ES/SD and great accuracy, but the powder is a bit touchy. When working to find max in my 6.5 creed, it took only a .3 grain jump in powder to blow the primer. I had some time and took the liberty of running some QL data with 6.5 and H100V to give you a baseline.

H100V is not temp stable but just ordered 8lbs of StaBill6.5
Was trying to stay with powders on hand,
Am saving the slower powders for Sherman Max build, these two guns are the wife's.
25-06 is her deer and antelope rig and the 7mmRM is her elk rifle.

I do and also understand that you have to start lower and work your way up with AH bullets. I have used H100V with both the 140 gr. and 155 gr. AHs in my 280AI, as well as with the 178 gr. in my 300WM. I would be using it in my 7RM as well but that rifle has a 1:10 twist barrel so neither of the 284 AHs will work in it. It's loaded with RL23 and 132 gr. Heavy Hammers for my elk hunt in Montana next week.

found the same thing with Varget in the 30-06...pressure hit quickly and I blew a primer. I wonder if this has to do with the bullet design and operating way over max load for a similar bullet weight

Could you post an image of your Staball 6.5 Quickload powder profile? I don't have that one in my version.

I'm sorry, but I don't know how to do that.

I was thinking a photo of your screen like this one.
