GoFaster with only 14 reviews is probably just trying to take advantage but FTW coating started at $.01. MandM started at $200 and $150. Consumers are driving up the market not the sellers. Auctions have always proven to be unpredictable.

Low starting prices and bidders ran the price up. NOT SCALPING, it is called competition! I just did the same thing with shotgun barrels on ebay. Cut them off and finish at 18.5" to 19". Start them at 99 cents and the fools bid them up over $200 every time. Easiest money I have made as a gunsmith since zero was in office. I put a very nice 24" mossberg smooth bore ported slugester with Williams sights on ebay and it only bid to $149. I should have cut it down to 18.5" kept the sights and made it tacticool!
If I could legally ship primers and powder I would be selling them on gunbroker.
Buy low sell high! That is the American way!

If you did not know what was inside H1000 a person might think the H1000 could provide some kind of nitrate high or buzz.

I recently saw 3 pounds of H1000 at a LGS/hardware/general store for $29.99 each and they all went away in the time (less than 2 minutes) it took to get some cat food for our new kitties. I have been using IMR7977 instead.

Hopefully, there is enough chemical stabilizer in the H1000 to make stocks of it useable for the next decade or more.

We have a lot of this going on in my local area on local selling sites. I'm not saying I've done it but maybe some of these scalpers have been getting offers for $50 above their asking price to travel 30 minutes to meet the buyer and the buyer just never shows up.... Definitely haven't done that to any scalpers recently.

Yes the sellers are bold. But the buyers that will pay it is what is driving it.

These people that are buying up supplies and trying to resale just to make a profit is bulls**t. I wouldn't buy from them ever. Get there names and post them here. That way we will know not to deal with them. Let them sit on that powder for ever. That will stop of of that as soon as they figure they can't sell it. Here several months ago I on the road I saw a garage door open. It was full of T.P and paper towels. Both item came back, and I hope he is still sitting on those items. Some people are pigs.

good grief!!!! Thats insane. If things are allowed to continue in this direction we'll all be shooting factory ammo because handloading is too expensive (I shudder to think haha...haven't shot factory since I got into loading and have no desire to change that)

No, the free market is designed to have equilibrium. The manufacturers are certainly considering expanding capacity but they have to balance that out with having underutilized factories when things settle down. If prices stay this high competition will enter due to attractive margins and that will drive things down to equilibrium.

We all know this market...things go from equilibrium to incredibly scarce with, often times, little to no warning. We need to adjust our behavior and know how to compete as buyers in this market or we will be faced with a choice of making due with what we have, using a substitute powder, or paying outrageous prices.

I paid $90 for primers, which is outrageous in some ways at 3x the price, but for me the $60 wasn't a large price to pay to be fully equipped with all the components I will need for a few years with each of my rifles.

People can buy and sell for whatever they want. The problem is that it empowers the hoarders to go out everyday and buy up everything they can to help create the shortages. The hoarders are the reason for lack of availability.

A risky investment which few will capitalize on. Look at the 22LR hoarders following Sandy Hook. I note 22LR is hard to find now. Having ~15K if it, ir ~7K of 223, 4K of 308, and ~1 to 2K of almost every other round I shoot, in loaded rounds and components, I don't think of myself as a hoarder. I fully expect to shoot it all.
With what we have, we can choose profit or break even. A buddy needed some RL7, sold him 1.5lbs for $30. My gun doesn't like it, he needed it. He does the same in return.

2, just my observation, it's not the present administration limiting components. It's the prospect of a different and unfriendly administration which is driving the shortage. Some members here were foresighted enough to see the possibility of this coming and make key purchases prior to the panic. I assure you if an alternate administration takes over next year, you'll be crying for the present administration's policies on firearm regulations.

I have also heard that people on both sides of our political environment believed that the Covid 19 would create anarchy and they needed to prepare. Hence the sale of firearms to new shooters.
Thus creating a demand. My neighbor across the street bought her first firearm (a mouse gun) and was told that the only loaded ammo available was $1/round (380 ACP). Yep! I live in California.
