Bourbon

So....I've been trying to learn bourbon for the last year.

Thought I should learn American whiskey instead of Canadian (crown).

After a lot of research, :) I've found that hipsters have mucked up bourbon just like hunting.

Last month I found one that is smoth, and delicious, but affordable, and you can actually find it.

What I've found around here is a good bourbon in the $20-$30 range will get popular and the state ABC will allocate it and the price doubles. A buddy and I have been on a mission to find the best cheap bourbon we could. You would be surprised at how good some of the lower end stuff is in comparison.

On the low end of things try Ancient ancient age, not to be confused with ancient age. And though it's not technically bourbon the 12 yr Dickel or bottled in bond is good.

In the mid range of price Buffalo Trace, McKenna 10 yr.

Upper range I just tried the jack Daniels barrel proof, ranges from 130-140 proof depending on the barrel. It will test your metal but surprisingly easy to drink for something that hot. And the obvious and elusive Blanton's.

I'm sure others will disagree but, to each his own. The trick is usually to find what you are looking for but that also becomes part of the fun.

Your taste in bourbon is like your preference in anything else, you try it and see if you like it. Some bourbons are sweeter, some bitter. Some people like it in cola, some water, on ice, or my preference 3 fingers for sipping.
To me and according to my taste and IMHO I prefer Knob Creek or Woodford Reserve. But if you were to offer Basil Hayden, Bakers, Bookers, Blantons, Bullitt , Buffalo Trace etc.. I would be happy to imbibe. Oh and if I serve you Ancient Age....well how else can I get rid of that rotgut booze? LOL Remember to drink responsibly and be safe, be well. ;)

Larceny and George Remus are real good too.

I'm no bourbon drinker, but my wife is a pro....she does tastings for groups where they try all kinds of different price ranges and, whatever....anyway, she and her buds are pretty high on this one for $10-12/bottle...

It's more like $8 here. It's not bad. Rumor is it's the buffalo trace that doesn't make the cut, watered down.
