than how can a 6.5 CM with these dimensions hold more powder with a 140 grain bullet.

The max case capacity is based on water usually. With different case dimensions and powder densities the numbers are not absolute. That being said with very dense powders you have to resort to drop tubes etc to get the maximum amount of powder in the case.
 
Fyi I ran a one shot ladder with 149 eldm R26 Hornady brass gmm210. I was able to get 49 gr in the case by vibrating it with an electric toothbrush. 49 gr was 3053 with a 26" barrel savage. 48.5 was 3009. 44 fps jump. This much was probably over saami as noted by the increase jump in velocity. Based on the data collected I saw 2 potential nodes. 44-44.5 at 2760 and 46.5-47 and 2900. The former is close to what I am getting with H 4350 with extreme accuracy. So the latter one is the only one that interests me. I have a ladder loaded for a while to go shoot. Just need to go do it.

My results are similar. I shoot 48 gr rl26 with a 147 and get 2975ish, in my short barrel it still does over 2900fps. No brass issues.

I've had no need for any vibrating to settle powder when using a 16" drop tube. That was loading up to 50.1 gr in Hornady brass seating 140 Bergers and 143 eldx out to 2.9"

As for the OAL question for the creed, I can't confidently answer that, I shoot a .260 AI, and have pretty limited experience loading a creed, that data I posted wasn't mine. I would suspect however, if your bullet isn't in the case with a OAL of 2.890", then your shooting a different bullet than what the data I posted lists. Comparisons can't be made unless your using the same components, he was using the 143 eld-x for reference.

As for feeding, if your max mag length is only 2.850, then that is all you can fit. If you want to run 2.890, you have to single feed unless you modify something with your magazine set up. There are several options to get more length in your magazine. Both Wyatts and PTG make BDL mag box setups that get more length I believe, PTG has their "Bainey" box that allows up to 3.110" in a short action, they need to be installed either by a smith or someone that can confidently use a mill. If you have an AICS DBM, ARC makes a magazine that I use, I can load to about 2.960" OAL and still feed reliably, I load to 2.950 with the 156 in my .260 AI with no issues With the ARC AICS mags. There are several other companies that make binderless mags that all will get you to around that 2.950" OAL range as well, I just like the ARC mags.

I just seen today some Berger loaded ammo at sportsman's with 144 hybrids at if my eyes were serving me correctly it was running at 2860 for a 144 grain. They also had another bullet load which I thought was a 149.5 grain hybrids. Not 100 percent sure on the last one but it was in the low 2700's. The thing that interest me the most was the speed and the 2 new 6.5's bullets. One other thing is I seen my first box of weatherby 6.5 RPM brass on the shelf. It's basically a remless 264 win mag without the standard weatherby shoulder. I don't remember the price for them. No rem, not much taper and if I'm correct it fits in a standard action. It looks a lot like a stretched out 6.5 creed. It could be the big brother to the creed. 😆😆

The 6.5 rpm is a stretched 6.5x284. It's a beltless rebated rim cartridge. It has similar case capacity as the 264wm, but from all info I have saw, it doesn't equal it in performance.
 
Interesting on the 6.5RPM. Glad I have the 264win then and once the barrel is burned out. It's getting a 1/7 twist for those 156 to 160 bullets. I still may do a 280 ackley version or something with my long action savage. It's currently a burned out 6.5x284norma. But I really love that round also. Some many options and the list grows.
 
All good choices. Too many great cartridges out there right now. If your doing another 264 then the 6.5-284 is kind of redundant. The 280i is a really good one. I'm a big fan of the MMs. 6mm, 6.5mm, and 7mm.
