Looks good. It sounds like a good candidate for the 300 PRC. Was gonna plan on 212/225s. Those 205s look good.
Are the .338s becoming pointless?

Could not agree more but I have a 280rem 2 308's 2 30-06's 1 243 and a 338 ultra mag and 6mm creedmoor but if someone sells one cheap I might have one more rifle to clean
When using a 20" 338WM, does powder selection really make any difference? I figure a 100fps would make no difference.

I had a Savage Weather Warrior Stainless in .338 WM. Barrel was I think 22" with muzzle brake so approximately 20" of rifled barrel. My buddy had a Winchester .338 WM with a 26" barrel. Our rifles only had a 97fps difference in velocity thru my chronograph. Seemed odd to me that it was so little a difference but after reading other posts on the .338 WM, it's common that velocity is very little gain/loss per inch of barrel.

I don't like shooting one and haven't shot past 1000 yds ever, can't say that won't change one day, but not today. I have a 300 wm that seems to do just fine on elk and a .260 rem that does elk and all below it with aplomb. I don't understand the need for a .338 for elk, but many don't understand my need for A 300 wm for elk. It's what makes forums like this fun, you learn, you try something new and next thing you know, you're a deplorable gun owner. Happy Saturday to all
I realize the irony of my post as this is the long range hunting forum. I can't justify it myself right now with how much I can practice and spend time getting good enough to do it ethically.

Don't know of many 7s or 30s that can even come close to a 285 Flatline (BC .968) going 3000+ out of a 338 Lapua improved or a 33XC.

If I'm not mistaken, I think those 285s need a 9 twist. Seems slow for such a long bullet. There over 2" long, that I do remember.
Saw a pretty cool feat last night, my 74 yr old man hit a moose and broke it's neck with a Ruger canoe paddle in 7mm Rem Mag (ugliest rifle I've ever seen, lmao) 250 yards and the bull was guillotined as the swamp yanked him down with nary a step made , pretty awesome sight as I watched through my scope in 15x ready to RUM it if it ran ....

That's an awesome hunt. Congrats to him. I have a buddy that LOVES those Ruger Skeletore stocks. They are FUGLY for sure but obviously they get it done. BTW...I think those Nosler 160 Partitions are Bad *** bullets. I'd have wanted a little heavier for a Moose but they are built for the job.

I suppose you'd probably know which is better on big, big animals. I know the Core lokts are excellent in deer size game. Anything bigger, wouldn't know.
