Action screw hit bolt on 700

I swapped stocks on my Remington 700, and the action screw went in a bit deeper than the factory stock. The result was a bit of bolt interfeeence, and now my bolt is scuffed/damaged from the contact.
Is this one of those things that I should care about, or will it be fine and wear in eventually?(I have fixed the action screw interference, just worried about the marked up lug)

You're not the first to have this happen. Remove the offending action screw and grind or file a small amount at a time off the threaded end till it clears the bolt. Do not take too much off, you need enough threads to hold safely.

Happens all the time, while it is annoying - I wouldn't bat an eye.

Check the rear action screw as well. If it protrudes too much it will bind the rear of the bolt. None of this is uncommon when stocks are switched. Good luck

I added a spacer under the mag well and eliminated the contact. I more concerned about the damage too the bolt lug. Everything seams fine, just a bit tougher than it was to close the bolt.

I've had so many rem 700's over the years I'd be ashamed to say - over 1/2 of em have had marks On the bolt heads from too long of screws.

while it is annoying - I have seen zero I'll effects from it.

Didn't look at your pic before replying, wow you really worked that bolt. Small jewelers file or sand paper on popsicle stick. Just knock it down. Like North Idaho said, no ill effects. Good luck

So in 1994 I bought a Rem 700 7mm Rem Mag SS. The forward action screw hit the bolt too. Gods Honest truth It was THE most accurate rifle I've ever owned. So I never changed it.

A harmless lesson learned. BTW, saw a factory 700 with the scope mount screw hole drilled and tapped into the chamber from the factory. THAT WAS A BIG PROBLEM. Every case expanded into the hole and ruined brass.

it turned out nice though. It's a Factory CDL that o swapped into a Greyboe stock and installed a trigger tech trigger.

Where it is scuffed it has nothing to do with strength or function. Take a bit off your screw and don,t worry about it. I would take a small file and clean up your anti bind groove though.

well done sir, it looks very nice imo. Is that a greyboe factory finish on the stock or did you do the Camo yourself?
