New Reloading Bench

My first reloading bench was plywood and 4x4s; it worked okay but wasn't super stable. It was, however, portable which was important since I was in the Army at the time. I bought a commercial workbench for my second one and it was much better. Both of my current houses are custom built with dedicated loading rooms with built in benches, shelves, etc. If you can swing it, highly recommend it. One member here is actually my GC for Colorado, and he designed my walk in vault and reloading room in CO. He put a wrap around patio that terminates out of the door of my loading room - I can shoot from there as far as I want. Heaven.

I use an all steel commercial desk (40 years old) with a rubberized top. It weighs a ton. I paid $20 for the desk and $15 more for the matching file cabinet which is so well built that it easily holds heavy loads of bullets and ammo.
Mounted some tall kitchen cabinets above to hold dies, primers, tools, etc.

I have the Harbor Freight bench 2 of them hooked together by my Rock Chucker.

At Lowes I bought some heavy duty molding and built a florescent light holder.

At HF I also bought their 4' long power strip and attached in the back.

I set 2 2x4s together, mounted on solid blocks for the selves.

The two benches hooked together provide a very stable working area/bench. With the 4 drawers and the 2 landing areas underneath (1 for each side/bench), a lot of room for storage that fills up fast...lol.

Nice job Sir. I can't think of the times I used cinder blocks and 2X10s to add shelving to my work bench.
My first reloading table was 2 saw horses and an old oak door. One thing about reloading is. You have tobe creative.
As long as it doesn't shake or flex, you can reload on it. " Wait a minute, I take that back" My mentor in reloading,,
has his press's mounted on the old style black an decker work mate bench's. He's 86 yrs young ,he doesn't move as fast as he use too. But, his shooting is dead on target and his reloads are as good as it gets, and that's him shooting hole in hole at 100yrds. "well, a ragged hole".

Two Harbor Freight benches would be a real possibility if it doesn't flex under the workforce of a press under the workload you expect to apply. Most benches with the YouTubers flex and are easily seen in the videos produced. In the event, a bench flexes use a strong back for additional enforcement.

I'm moving and need to get a new reloading bench. We are renting the house so I unfortunately I can't permanently attach or anchor the bench to the walls or floor. Having said that, what over the counter work benches have you guys used for your reloading benches? I was thinking about just getting a Harbor freight wooden workbench, but not sure if you guys know of something better that's not overly expensive. Thanks!
What i did is build out with 2x8,s and overlay with 3/4 inch plywood. And under your press run a 2x10 front to back and drill through all and use thick washers on your bolts. Almost all the torque is front to back on your bench. And stack all your bullets on the back for weight.

I have the same situation. Not the most space, but it works in a pinch.

I have the Harbor Freight bench as well and am very happy with it. I mounted my presses on risers so that I still had use of all the drawers. Excuse the mess as at the time of the pic, I was in the process of setting up my Loadmaster press.View attachment 214176View attachment 214176
On your risers did you have to drill new holes in the top for the bolts or use existing holes with bushing tubes and bolts?
