7mm-08 Rem with H4350 or RL17?

I've tried a fair amount with the 139 btsp, and I'd really like this bullet to work with it because I have tons of them, but thus far results have been just so-so. More recently played with just a few loads with the 154sst, and one load ran about 3/4"... So more promising. Time will tell.

I'm in the 44.5 area with 150 grain, and 46, with 140 grain. The 150 bullets were 150smk, and Noslers. The 140,was Nosler also. Could not get the 139 to fly, with any combo. Really wanted it to fly. I'm. 040 off lands. Noslers like to jump.

I've just started playing with RL16. So far it's been ok, haven't got it consistently under MOA. Could you share any details on your RL16 loads? Thanks

I tried both RL16 and H4350 with the 150gr Ballistic tip for my 7mm-08 and with both powders I went to 46.0 max and that were both grouped best with H4350 giving the best overall groups. On both I had no preasure signs at all sonim going to keep going with 0.3gr increments up to 46.9gr

You have a good load with the 154gr SST, provably play a little around that load and with seating depth.

With the Hornady 139gr SST and 139gr Interlocks I use IMR-4064, they shot sub half MOA in my 7mm-08. RL16 should work well and give you a bit more speed than Varget and 4064.

I also have some 154gr SST's I will load for for my wife's 7mm-08, I will also try out RL16 and H4350 on those.

I'm using the 139 BTSP in my 7-08 tikka . I've got a decent load using IMR4064 @ 43.2 grains . I haven't tried it with RL17 yet , I have a bunch or IMR4064 I'm trying to use up .if you have IMR4064 give it a try .

In reference to Varget, I've just started to play a bit with IMR4166 in my 308. It looks to be every bit as good, and very similar to varget. I haven't tried it in the 7-08 yet.

Varget is almost impossible to beat. In short action, theres probably nothing better. The 139 is a deer hammer!🦌

My longest mule deer kill was at 465 yards with a 139btsp (out of a 7-08 I sold) so I'm confident in it's kill-ability!

It is a great bullet up close and at longer ranges, not the highest BC bullet but under 500 yds it works great. I have had better results with the SST, kills a little faster for me. But I'll take either one any day for deer
