My Bergara 300 Win Mag wasn't shooting that great either.My groups were running around 1.5-2".Just couldn't seem to find anything that would group better.Just for the hell of it,I had a Boyd's Pro Varmint stock that I had bedded for my Remington 700 Sendero rifle.I did nothing to the stock,just dropped in the Bergara barreled action and bolted on the bottom metal and shot these groups my next visit to the range.So I think the problem was the stock and not the Bergara.

I did notice that as well. What was the group size difference after she tightened up?

*Note: Remington ammo is about the worst to try, as to get an accuracy standard for your rifle! All Bergara's button-rifled brl's I've bore-scoped sofar, were as good an interior finish & specs as they come and can easily match most other custom mfg'erd brl! **Try scraping off the oversprayed painted areas of the inserted aluminum bedding-rail, roughen the area's up and skimm-bed it with either Devcon or Marinetex, insert your accra-glass release covered brl'ed action into the stock, let it cure, pull out, rework, clean-up, re-assemble and in the majority of the rifles you'll notice your groups will come down at least 1/2 size immediately! There seems to be a growing number of the same complaints with that gun in all calibers. I wouldn't want to have to put 125 Rds thru ANY GUN as OP said he had to do.....and find out it still doesn't shoot. Sorry to hear about your dilemma....it's not what we expect buying new!

I think Bergara is a very well built rifle. All guns have some that will have issues, it is about how the maker deals with the issues and if the service in Canada was as good as it is in the States I would have no hesitation whatever in buying one and recommending them to customers. For the price there aren't many in their league for overall quality, fit and finish and 99% have no issues of any kind. The issue with needing to skim bed or at least clean off the bedding block is fairly common but at least cleaning it is really easy to do.

In my humble opinion: Bergara's are way ahead in quality & design of any of the present/past US factory rifles 'non-stop' if the shooters know what to look for & know what they're doing as for 'break-in' and the very minor improvements needed compared to the US stuff to make them perform 'on par' with the higher-end full custom built rifles!
 
My 300 WM is a custom with a Bartlein barrel. I was shooting 1/4" groups immediately. That was with handloads. I don't shoot commercial ammo in any rifle unless it's an absolute emergency. You probably don't have a cut rifled barre.

The two I messed with were both 6.5 creedmor they went from 1.5 to about 1/2 inch at 100 of course this was with handloads but the only factory that was fired in either one was hornady match just to try I would suggest a very good cleaning to make sure all copper is gone and try shooting a 5 round group and clean again to see how heavy the copper build up is

Generally, properly designed & fitted muzzle brakes will result in slightly improved accuracy, as the bulk of the exiting gasses are being diverted sideways through the first port(s), which lessens the degree and amount of gasses upsetting any bullet exiting the muzzle!

So the Remington 180 gr Core Lokt factory ammo shot better than your hand loads. After shooting your handloads , did you retry the Rem 180 gr Core Lokts to see if they still shot better than handloads ?

no but I will. Good idea. I bedded the action block. Letting it dry 24 and give that a shot.
