Did 6.5 PRC obsolete the 6.5 CM only to be made obsolete?

Had 2 creeds tried liking them but got bored with the fact they didn't really give me anything a 243 didn't in moderate distances and I prefer speed. Never been a short mag kind of guy so prc didn't do it for me either.

Always wanted a 264wm but the basically zero factory support squashed that. Now I'm eyeing a 6.5 rpm pretty hard. 264wm like performance and seems like almost as many factory ammo options right now (probably not but weatherby covered their bases pretty well with the 3 options they released so far). Now if only someone besides Winchester chambered rifles in 264.

At any rate different strokes for different folks but there's a pretty good chance I'll be adding a mark v 6.5rpm to the stable fairly soon.
I just bought a 6.5x300 Weatherby Vanguard, love it, bought expensive ammo and expensive to reload for 🤔

I have always felt like the Creedmoor was a 21st century 257 Roberts. A mid-caliber Swiss Army knife. I feel like the 25-06 and the belted magnum craze pushed the Roberts aside. Since the CM got so popular with so many cartridges both bigger and faster already around I think it will be around for a while. There are plenty of belted magnums that we're predicted to go extinct with the newer non-belted magnums. I am old enough to remember when everyone was saying that the 7 RM and 300 WM would kill the 30-06 and 300 H&H. Hasn't happened yet.
We should look at the Creedmoor and play like it adds to our "diversity ".😄😄😄
If something comes along that pushes the CM aside l am sure I will probably get one, that's why they make really large gun safes isn't it?

If a particular cartridge was ever going to obsolete another cartridge it would have been the 7mm Remington magnum obsoleting the 264 win mag. And the 264 win mag still lives on today. I really don't think that a cartridge can obsolete another. Those cartridges that are obsolete, obsoleted themselves or was obsoleted by the firearm configuration they were offered in.
I would hope your right. Used a family members 264 win mag for years. Then got 3006 and 243. Looking for another 264 now. Love what that thing can do. I like the 6.5prc too. I think alot of hunters do.

I don't think so. 7mm-08 isn't firing the heavy high BC bullets and 7mags have much more recoil then 7-08.

6.5 CM and 6.5 PRC shoot the same bullets and both have low level of recoil. They both kind of do the same thing but one does it better.
I'm late to the talk but I run a 162 ELDM in my 7mm 08 and 1760 yards is a breeze and the power at 1100 yards is awesome I'm at 9,000 ft in Colorado so 1100 yards is doable at 2738 fps

I've so far held out on getting a CM but I really like what I have seen and read of the PRC. Its capability suits me, it will fill the void between .308 and .300 Win Mag for me. It'll have to wait though, got a Savage brush hunter in .375 Ruger on layaway at Buds that needs to come home first :) Priorities!

simple FACT is the 6.5cm is here to stay it won't be going away ANYTIME soon no matter how much people want it to
its a proven solid cartridge on targets and big game it will only gain in popularity

I've owned a 7/08 and there is NO WAY your getting that velocity with a 162 @ 1100 yards
do a video and post it this i HAVE TO SEE cause ill gaureentee its just NOT happening
