Hello all.im looking to try some different bullets in my 308s I'm looking at the Berger classic hunters the Sierra hpbt game kings and hornady eld m that's what I've been looking at so far all 168 gr.which out of these will be good from 20 yards in the brush out to 500 on whitetail or bear? Also any other bullet suggestion are welcome thanks

Nosler ABLR's have done well for me at those ranges.
I should warn you though, they have been a royal pain to get a consistent load developed for me...
Some guys have an easy time with them though. Just depends on your process and your rifle.

I don't think I would use eldm's that close but I've never tried, I'm sure others could give you more insight on them. Im a big fan of nosler accubonds, or ablr's, Barnes ttsx would be another good choice I think as long as the opening velocity matches the range. I'm trying hammer bullets this year. I've honestly never heard a bad review on them.

I'm having good results with 150 Accubond in 30-06 at velocities over 3,000 fps. Slammed some pigs with them so far.

I'm also working up a load for 300 WSM with 180 Scirocco II. Seating depth looks likely to be greater than 0.060" jump.

I love .308 cal chamberings.

Berger classic hunters have been accurate in every 264 caliber I have shot them in. That is 4 rifles so far. I have not shot them in 30 cal though.

This is a 5 shot group from a Tikka CTR 260 Remington I shot last weekend with just a 5 shot warm up string. The cold bore shot is part of this group too.

They hunt too. My hunting buddy and I have killed 2 mule deer and 2 elk with them from our 6.5x55 rifles.

Take your pick, lots to choose from.

Two of the three options you mentioned are good, exception is the ELD-M, I'd go with the ELD-X instead in case of a close range ahot.

All cup and core bullets that at 308 velocities you don't have to worry about bullet blow up. (ELD-M excluded)

The Hornady 165gr SST and Sierra 165 TGK are also good options.

Stay safe

Forgot to add this, of these shot the one that groups best.

I would also look at the vldH in 168 gr slightly better bc. I think all the bullets listed will do the job, just depends which ones shoot the best out of your rifle. Good luck

My 308 AR10 just loves the Federal Premium 175 and 185 grain Bergers. Unfortunately, they're target bullets, so I don't think they'll work well for game. My job now is to try and emulate that load with a hunting bullet. I'm going to try the Barnes LRX in 175 grains next.
