264 Win Mag LR bullets

You ask for math help but, "it didn't take more than 3 square root equations for me to lose interest".

You post "I've been drinking", and assume others are.

You post "I'll post up some visual references to my math problem later", but haven't.

You reject solid real world experience.

I find lancetkenyon consistently reliable.

Obviously you know I posted the visuals in a ballistics thread that you read. You assumed I would post them here. I post wherever I think I will get the most relevant responses based on responses already received whether you approve or not.

Why do you think I was looking for input from mathematicians? You must be some kinda genius with your expression of ability to make the obvious correlations that you have obviously read. Or maybe you just want to criticize. I did not criticize lancet. I disagreed with him and dismissed 1 very specific assessment of the many he offered. If that is too much for you or anyone to handle, too bad.

Reading & comprehension seems to be a lost art these days...

Here is the ballistics thread for anyone who may be interested. This is where I posted the visuals last night that I said I would post. It seems to have some good info:

Trolling on... 🤣

Every once in a while you come across a dude demanding why he can't make something work that is impossible, good folks will volunteer info from experience but it's rejected and the bs continues

my recommendation is always the same...

Do it yourself !!!!!!!!!

prove or disprove it by doing the physical testing yourself .....

If you go with the slower twist, your BC is going to be degraded and shooting out to 1400 yards, one would think that you would want all the BC that you can get. It's really a moot point.

Just my thought but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Why the pondering of the slower twist op?

I'm looking at a specific buying opportunity that I deem somewhat rare and it has a 9 twist barrel. As I was researching and getting all of the helpful recommendations here, I found a great disparity between Berger's Litz Twist Rate Calculator and JBM Ballistics Miller/Courtney Sg calculator. In short, the Berger calculator yielded a no go (1.27 Sg) and the JBM yielded a go (1.651 Sg) on the 140 ABLR.

If you are interested, you can click on the link I posted above or go to the Ballistics forum to read the discussion on Bullet Stability from folks a lot smarter than me to get their thoughts on these two respected online calculators. I was a bit surprised and you may be too.

When something does not make sense, or in this case two well-respected sources offer conflicting results, I look deeper.

I hear ya. I read a little bit of the info about the discrepancies but some of it was beyond me for the time I had to study it. To each his own but if I were in your position I think I would prob make the purchase based on your description of it.

GLW your situation, hope it washes out the way you want it to.

Thanks. I appreciate the sentiment. Lots of helpful posts on this thread.

So, I got the rifle. NIB Model 70 Super Grade .264 WM w/ 26" Winchester magnum profile barrel. It was a smokin' deal I couldn't pass. Waiting for it to arrive.

I still haven't decided which bullet to start with. I've got a couple 30's for larger game so I may start with a lighter bullet ie; 130 gr to establish benchmark performance before trying the heavier and longer bullets. I really appreciate all of the helpful feedback on this thread.

I'm thinking I'll buy some 7 rem mag cases for it bc the 264's just seem to cost more for the headstamp.

I've got 7+ lbs of RL16 and a bunch of WLRM and WLR primers to see if I can develop a satisfying load.
