Hi to all
Did have somebody any experience with this ?
A reloader guy told me to try to make hole larger ( 3 mm - 3.2 mm ) between primer chamber to powder chamber on the brasses and to use CCI BR primers.
What do you think ?
Will help on something ?
I mean accuracy or other + things
Or will make something wrong to the gun or the bolt ?
For me i have interest for this calibers:

There is no way I would open the flash hole on a piece of brass to 3mm. I am not an engineer or a physisist but after using my calipers to visualize what a 3mm flash hole looks like, I believe it may be dangerous to remove so much material from the end of the case that is used to contain the most pressure produced by the burning powder.

I would say someone is telling you to do something that is not safe to do. There are people like that everywhere.

Don't do it.

I uniform the primer pockets and trim the flash holes but I do not enlarge the flash holes.

Tell him to do it with a max load and stand way back. If that is a customary reloading procedure, it would be common knowledge. Uniforming and deburring is a common practice but I haven't heard of anyone purposely making the flash hole larger although it's possible that folks do it.

Do not enlarge a flash hole beyond .082" EVER.
It LESSENS the amount of pressure the brass can handle.
The Euro size of .076"-.078" is actually preferred over the US size of .082".

Never heard of that. I wouldn't try it. You need more flash? Use a magnum primer.

Some Lapua brass , like 6BR uses a SMALLER flash hole, and you need to get a smaller decapping pin to avoid enlarging it.
I would suggest 21st Century flash hole deburring tools, but never open up a flash hole like that.
Sounds like this was someone's weird way of making a berdan primer work in a boxer case or something.

Saw it dont on a muzzle loader it would cock the hammer after each shot,Dont do it.

I also use a flash hole debur tool & primer pocket uniformer.

@MariusClaudiu These are not to enlarge but just to uniform the size of the holes & in the case of the flash hole deburer it will remove the inside bur that occures from primer pockets that are punched over the ones that are drilled.

Im glad you checked here, you shouldnt believe everything you hear or read but investige before jumping into what could be a very bad situation.

The only time I have read about increasing the firing pin hole diameter was for trying to create more uniform SD/ES on subsonic loads. I have never tried it personally and isn't something I would recommend. The subsonic loads I have worked with have generally been able to achieve reasonable SD/ES by changing seating depth/ powder/ primer combinations. For supers, I have never even considered enlarging the hole and there is plenty of anecdotal evidence online that you might do better with a smaller primer or non-magnum primer to achieve more uniform results.

Force = pressure x area
Area = pi x d^2/4

increasing the d will exponentially increase the force on the primer.....that is bad juju

I was just reading about that subject in "ABCs of Reloading" book. They say that enlarging primer pilot hole will result in faster ignition and more pressure. That makes sense to me so I have to agree that messing with pilot hole diameter is a bad idea. The book also advises against it

freedom of speech is blessing and a curse. People can run their mouths with potentially dangerous misinformation and yeah they can be argued with or called out but rarely held responsible, made to answer for it. Freedom does not equal no consequences. If we're going to teach freedom of speech we also need to equally teach critical thinking and healthy skepticism, and I question the extent to which western civilization is hanging on to both freedom of speech or critical analytical thinking but thats beside the point I suppose. Very glad the OP checked in with others before trying this, safe or otherwise, did the right thing.
