How much neck tension for hunting loads?

I got my first bushing resizing die, for my 6.5 gap, and not sure how much neck tension is best for hunting loads. I have heard a lot of bench shooters go with .001 but I'm worried that is too little for ammo rattling around in a pack on a hunting trip. How much tension do you recommend for hunting loads?

I would shoot for .002-.0025 its worked very well for me.

Ok dumb question but is the spring back springing back open so loosing some tension? I don't anneal yet.

Ok thanks. So if I'm not annealing and my loaded case neck measures .291 and I use a bushing of .288 with the spring back I would probably be around .002 or .0025 of neck tension?

probably but the only way to know for sure is measure and its going to depend on how work hardened the brass is.

What kind of Brass is it? Lapua neck thickness is .015 per side for a total of .030. Now if you have a bullet of .264 + .030 of neck thickness (2X.015) = .294-.002=.292 in a perfect world. Like stated above springback is .001 or .0005 on annealed brass.

I anneal every firing and choose bushing at around .003 neck tension and then run and .002 mandrel thru for last step. Never had an issue mag feeding with .002. I would worry more about temp and what primer to run based on that data along with bullet jump.

Well, I run the neck tension that gets the best accuracy.
For example, my 300WM in my Kimber 8400 likes .0015" with 180gr Accubonds, but needs .003" with the 200gr Accubond.
My Sendero II in 300WM likes .003" with 210gr ABLR. My LR likes .0035" with the same bullet.

Try it but mike your bushings and the neck after sizing but before seating. In my experience lots of bushings are off...
