$1200 budget, what would you buy?

Browning Hells Canyon or Tikka t3 lite with the fluted barrel in whatever caliber he likes from a .243/6mm lite side up to a low recoiling 30 cal like the 308 and everything in between.

Okay, a friend of mine is in search of a new rifle. 90%+ use will be Georgia WT, so 80-150lb animals and in the area we are in, 400yrds is a long shot. Stand and some mountain (hills for a lot of y'all) hunting. He has his mind leaning towards one of the new Savage 110 Ultralights in 6.5CM.. Glass is covered, but for just the factory naked rifle, anything else he should look at in that price range, or less? I mentioned the Browning Hells Canyon Speed rifles, not sure what else in a quality factory rifle is out there. Thanks for the help
Eric
Personally, I'd give the .257 Weatherby a long, hard look. Great caliber with excellent ballistics. Better than the 6.5 Creed

Start him off right. Let him know barrels are replacable, get a Howa BA, lightly used Tikka, or cheap Remington. Buy a Mcmillan and be in at 900. 1025 with a Timney. Update the barrel when he wants.

No, he doesn't reload, one of the reasons that I didn't suggest to him the25/06, 257Wby.. Not exactly on every shelf where we are.. 6.5CM, .308, .270, 30/06, 30-30 are the common choices we have.. I've yet to see a 6.5PRC, 300PRC, 6.5GR box of ammo or rifle in either of our 3 stores. Occasionally, we'll get to see a 300WM..
We're kinda remote..

Tikka, CZ, Howa, Weatherby Vanguard.

Weatherby just introduced the new Meat Eater edition that is cool looking.

Savage carbon fiber is cool too.

He actually went and picked up one of the new Weatherby Vanguards Meateater editions.
Thanks for the insight/opinions guys.

If I were in this position I'd be looking at Savage or something from Weatherby's vanguard line. Best value IMO. I've said before and will again if i had a big surplus of gun money I probably wouldn't buy more expensive, fancier rifles, I'd just own more savages and weatherbys :). Or go full custom and scratch the wildcat cartridge itch (.22-284, 6mm-06ai, .30-338 lapua ai) that's not what this discussion is indicating.
