Man - so I went through this a few years ago. The SBE3 has a flaw in the recoil system in the stock that messes with its POI. Google is your friend here. Those SBE3 owners that can't recognize it, are used to missing regularly. I have a few friends buy the SBE3 and it was bad. If you can find a used SBE2, you would be better off. The A400 is awesome, I had it narrowed down to the A400 and the versamax and went with a versamax. I love my versamax, but think I would have been equally as happy with the A400. I go to the dakotas every year chasing pheasants with a guys that shoots one. I mostly upland hunt and at the time remington had the woodtech stock version that I really liked, so that is what lead me to it. Cost was about the same on all three when I was shopping.

The A400 is a great gun! Fit me well and feels right, sbe3 is aweful but as sixfive stated, the sbe2 is a good gun. I've enjoyed owning and shooting versamax, SBE, super vinci. But after thousands of rounds a year and 12,000 in 2018 alone by far the best for reliability has been the browning maxus in the field and on coarse. If I'm using an auto loader (fairly rare on coarse). Buy that a400 you won't regret it

I have a SBE2 and AL391 in 12 gauge. Since we moved to northern AL in July, I've used the AL391 on doves instead of my normal 28 gauge. The 391 shoots so well that I might not shoot the SBE2 for ducks.

I haven't shot the A400 yet, but if it shoots like the 391 then you won't regret it. I do use a mercury recoil reducer on all my shotguns and I weigh down the butt stock with lead to increase the overall weight and balance out the gun. With the mercury recoil reducer on the SBE2, it won't cycle light target loads every time.

BTW, I'm using a shotkam now for all my skeet and hunting. In order to start it recording while hunting, I have to bump the gun on the ground. This is no problem for the 391 but the SBE2 it can easily cause the action to not completely seat in order to be able to fire. This flaw with the SBE2 has cost me some ducks in the past. Just a thought for you.
