Tikka 6.5

Haha always count the 1. Every one counts!

I scouted a farm this evening For crop management through TWRA. The permit is being drawn up now so by the middle of next week. Another farm with multiple areas to do some management and get more practice out to 900+.
what part of TN?

When I lived in Alaska, out in King Salmon for three years most of the locals used old rifles in standard calibers for moose. Residents could hunt them in December on snow machines pulling sleds, makes it much easier then hunting the bogs in September. Anyways, lots of moose fell to 270, 30-06 even .243 rifles. Some used big mags if they hunted September, more for the bears than the moose. Personally after hunting elk all my life I believe an elk can take much more punishment than a moose. Moose rarely drop in their tracks but they are done for if you made a good shot.
I go to a fishing lodge every year (except this one) in moose country of western Ontario, Canada. Every one of the fishing guides use a 30-06 with a 180gr Soft Point for moose, and never have lost one. Take that for what it's worth

I bought a 6.5 PRC Mossberg that was on sale for $299. I'll see how it compares to the CM.

I was going to order my girlfriend a .243, but maybe I'll let her use the Tikka instead.

Ouch $175 for 6.5 PRC brass....was more expensive then my Lapua 338 brass.

Hmmm.......you obviously found an amazing deal. Cheapest I can find 100ct boxes of lapau 338 is a about 230$. 175$ for 100pcs gunwerks 6.5 prc brass isnt a bad price. And it's good stuff will last many reloads as long you don't run it at redline constantly. I have some that has 6 ejector imprints on it, so I've run it HOT and it still holds a primers. ADG/Gunwerks brass is arguably just as good as lapua. The biggest problem is you'll get clickers after 3-4 firings due to most dies not sizing the web area. But my Lapua 300 norma improved brass does that too so no difference there either.

Is that on all loads or just hot ones?

The ballistics of the PRC intrigue me, I haven't even shot it yet and I ordered another 6.5 PRC, this time a M18 Mauser.

I wish Tikka made a 6.5 PRC I would've bought that straight away.

Warner loads, 1.5 gr below pressure signs. The problem is dies, they're not sizing the lower portion of cases. And this isn't just a problem with one die manufacturer, it appears to be all of them.
I recently just ordered a Tikka superlite 6.5 creedmoor that I found for a good price. Sending it to a smith in Commifornia who's going to open the bolt face to Magnum diameter and ream the creed to prc. Probably chop to 22" "as well. I had a lot of questions for the Smith and he was very helpful. He does several of these a week.

Shaen does know how to rock that!

Supposedly Tikka is testing the PRC. A SHOT 2020 video with a Beretta Rep said they wold be out by June, so who knows how long it will really be.
