Is Tangent Theta worth the $ over NF?

I think the idea was are they worth the extra money period.

Then how did your advice to "buy one and sell it if you don't like it" help, or tell him anything he did not already know?

There is a whole lot of great advice here for the OP, if he can separate it from the bogus crap posted by marketers, novices and posers.

Which one are you?
Exactly cjl2010!! This guys is taking this way too personally. To "poser" KY_Windage, I didn't advise him to buy one and sell it. Slow down and try and comprehend what you're reading, not what you want to hear. You're telling him not to buy it because they're not worth it. I advised that he had to decide if it was worth it to him and that if he didn't like it he would have no problem selling it and moving on. My gosh why do you people take an alternate opinion so personally?? If you don't have the money or don't want to spend the money then fine. But quit trying to "guilt" those who can.

Looking forward to hearing from OP since once he gets behind a TT to decide he will be one of the 4 people in this thread who meet his original question, having used both

I'm very interested in a 315m personally and have asked everyone I saw that owned one and none have eve had anything but pure praise
@lancetkenyon talked me into buying my 315m. The TT is an unreal scope. Call CStactical and they will take care of anyone wanting a Tangent.

^^^^ this dude knows a thing about TT

"This dude" is going to make a big chunk of change off every TT he sells. And he's not the only one trying to sell things here.

I sell nothing, except every few years I sell a used scope to a friend, usually more as a favor to them than because I needed to get rid of it.

Look, I'm sure TT are great scopes, but I seriously doubt that, all things considered, such as reliability/durability, reticle choice, glass quality, illumination and likely company longevity, they are anywhere as good as a NF, either as a tool or as an investment.

TT's have great turrets? That's wonderful, but I have no complaints about my NF turrets whatsoever.
TT's have great clarity? That's wonderful, but NF's ED glass is eye-popping, and it usually doesn't matter much anyway because of the heat waves.
TT's have great color? Wonderful, but so do NF's, and I'm not trying to photograph cardinals with my scopes anyway.

There is one other aspect to the OP's question that has not been discussed, but bears consideration. I own a bunch of NF's but only a couple that I bought new. Why? Because there are so many people selling lightly used scopes on the various forums (not just NF, but S&B, US Optics, Kahles and every other popular brand), and NF warranties their scopes regardless of who sends it in. I have to be careful who I buy from, but so long as I do that I save a ton of money over buying new.

So that means that if I ever did want to sell one of my NF's, I could get all or nearly all my money back. You buy a new TT and you're going to lose at least a thousand dollars on it if it turns out you need to sell it.

So as far as I'm concerned, it is a pig in a poke, and a very expensive one at that.

Now, if someone (who isn't a vendor -- just a shooter) can show me with targets how switching from a NF to some other brand will tighten my groups up, I'm all ears.

But I know it isn't going to be a TT because, like I said, they offer no fine reticles. You learn to appreciate a fine reticle when the object is to pop a prairie dog at 500 yards, and it doesn't count unless you make a first shot DRT kill. 😳

You wanna hit a big steel plate at LR? A 3-15 with a fat, FFP reticle works okay. But I shoot for extreme precision. Don't always achieve it, but that is always the goal. Nothing I have ever seen rivals a NF Comp for that, and the MOART ATACR's are a close second.

Happy 4th!

For those who have used both, do you feel the TT is worth almost twice the price of NF? I don't mind paying the premium price, assuming the product is also premium. Thanks for any input.

Is the extra $1,000 for a TT 315M or LRH over a ATACR 4-16x42 worth it? It is to me.
Is a Gen 2XR a better reticle than a Mil-R? It is to me.
Is the LRH mil reticle a great hunting reticle? It is to me.

The only bad I've heard about TT is from those who haven't owned one. That speaks volumes to me.

As always, YMMV.
