Boots for Pronghorn Hunting

As some of you know or may remember that I posted a tread on the elk forum about hunting boots and I about I a lot of replies (thanks so much for all the info). I unfortunately did not get a elk tag this year, but I am trying to get a WY pronghorn tag. My hunt (if I receive a tag) is thru a guide and by reading thru their website it says that they use UTVs. So my question is that should I still buy some expensive hunting boots (kenetreks) or should I just use my mucks for this hunt? Thanks for all info and knowledge! Have a great day!!

If you can afford a guided trip, you can afford good boots; they will last for years and will be broken in when you do draw the elk tag. Danner, Kennetreks, buy what fits you best.

You can still do a lot of walking when chasing Lopes. However, since most hunting will not be done in mountains I would wear whatever hunting boot you have, but not rubber types like muck and etc.

you need the 60 mph speed boots to keep up with the 'lopes.

Lots of good boots out there a fella can get into for less than $200, they'll work just fine for antelope hunting.

Love my Danner Pronghorns. They have lasted for many years, just keep the leather uppers treated. I would recommend you bring a set of light-weight gaiters to throw around the top of them. Some of that territory has plants that their little seeds always find their way down the top of my boots.

If you haven't hunted lope before, you glass a lot and do a bunch of stalking. Good ankle support is a must, but a few crawls might be needed—tough on toes. The turf might include cactus so good leather might prevent implanting thorns in your ankles. Knee pads and good gloves a plus for the same reason. A great pair of boots that lasts multiple seasons is an investment; a cheap pair that doesn't last or meet your needs is a mistake.

It's a wonder some of you guys can get up and dress yourself in the morning. Ummmmm- what boots should I wear to the mailbox?? I could buy some expensive dedicated "mailbox " boots, or I could wear boots I mow the yard in. What say you and thanks for your wealth of knowledge on what boots I should wear.

I'm very new to the site. I've just been sitting back gleaning information but I can jump in here. I'm 66 and have tried at least a half a dozen brand name boots over the years and just found the best fitting and most comfortable boots yet and they only set me back $97 from the Sortsmans Guide.
