Looking at a another build 375 Enablr??

Looking at pulling the trigger on a Cadex 375 Enablr 32" 10" twist. Have opportunity to shoot up to 2 miles. Whats the thoughts of this? Anything better for shooting and maintance and reloading, This is none hunting just for shooting targets. I know opinions are every where but I am checking the water here. Thanks again

If you're stating that you already have one EnABELR, then you might guess that the second one will save you money on components and dies. If this doesn't matter to you then you can choose any cartridge which pleases you and suits your needs.

A couple of things to consider:

I like the Cadex system for these larger cartridges. The difference with the EnABELR is the cost of the magazines. At just about $275.00/each, it could get a little expensive to have more than one for competition. I single feed for ELR practice and competition so magazines don't affect me. However, horsepower costs money no matter which cartridge you choose.

The real reason behind the slightly shorter design of the EnABELR is so that the cartridges can be magazine fed:

"Knowing the .375 CheyTac produced substantial performance, and that it was just too long for magazine feeding, made it easy to converge on a design for the .375 EnABELR. We just had to make the case short enough to achieve magazine length with the desired bullets, while adding a little more diameter to keep the case capacity similar to the .375 CheyTac. The resulting basic shape is quite similar in proportions to the successful .338 Norma Magnum Cartridge which, interestingly, was selected as the cartridge for General Dynamics Lightweight Medium Machine Gun (LWMMG)."

This then becomes a discussion of being suitable for use by the military by way of being magazine fed, which follows to assure the creators of millions of dollars in contracts even if just for a testing program. This could have a significant impact on both Peterson and Applies Ballistics with regard to production schedules and other commercial product availability. Recent cartridge development and testing has seen several branches and sub-branches of the military and DOD selecting a significantly larger number and wider variations of cartridges for weapons and weapons systems. So it's not out of line to suggest that AB has their eyes on one of these contracts.

None of this makes the EnABELR a bad cartridge. In fact, it's a well balanced case given the bullets necessary for ELR competition. But there is the potential for being slightly under powered for the longer ranges. So if you anticipate wanting to or needing to shoot further in competition, you could look into one of the larger cartridges.

If your going to get a cheytac size action you May aswell go cheytac. If your fine with the performance difference than look at the 37XC as action is cheaper and those bucks saved can be put towards glass or components. Mag feeding is pointless for ELR , not to mention the possibility of your rounds getting beat up in the mag. JMO

Or you could use a cheytac action and chamber the 400 warlord and outperform the 416 barrett from a chaytac action.

I got the Cadex 375 cheytac on order, I should see it late August or September. 7 twist barrel for the heavier bullets. Euro optic had the new S&B 3-27 which has twice the travel has my older 3x20 S&B on sale so I got that for on top of it. Just now need to start getting the reloading supplies. Got a few hundred Peterson brass. But I still need to aquire all the other components.

What is the opinion on what is the better press for these longer shells? My son inlaw just picked up a Barret 50 so i will need to be loading these too.

I started with the RCBS AmmoMaster because I got it in a good deal. But last year I switched to the Turban Prazipress Heavy press (Germany) since I was working with the larger cartridges more frequently. Now I have the Talon Advanced Precision press on order from Italy because I need another large press.

The Prazipress and Talon are not for the faint of heart unless compared to what you might find to be acceptable from Chinese castings assembled in America by RCBS and Hornady.

I can't be a fair judge since I won't get the Talon for another month or so. But the Turban Prazipress is nothing short of superb. You will need to do some paperwork after calling the manufacturer in order to make everything happen smoothly. They are super and walk you through the whole thing.
