Trigger Tech vs Timney Trigger

I have zero experience with the Trigger Tech, limited experience with Timney.

Any comments of on either?

I have Canjars, Shilen's, Jewells, and a Trigger tech, I say Trigger tech is right up there with the Jewells. When I need another trigger I will buy another Trigger Tech.

This is a hunting rifle, so he doesn't need a Jewell. And prob wouldn't know the difference.

Don't own a Trigger Tech, but have Timney and Jewel in hunting rifles and have had no issues.

Just about anything will be light-years of improvement over the factory trigger. A timney 510 can be had fairly cheap. I've always liked them for the price and their better than what's on 9 out of 10 factory rifles.

I have both - nothing wrong with Timney, but I prefer TT. Most of my guns have been converted over to TTs - only have one 223 left that sports a Timney.

What about tuning up the factory trigger? Free is always nice. You should be able to get it to 2# or so safely.

What is the desired pull weight, creep, and overtravel?

I run all my rifles with very light triggers. From 4-10oz.

Timney 510/512 will get you down to 1.5-1.7#. You can adjust almost all creep out of them for a nice crisp break with a touch of overtravel at the end. A good starter trigger. I suggest the narrow shoe if you get one, I don't like the wide shoe version. Plus, sometimes the wide shoe needs trigger guard modifications as it could hang up.

Timney Calvin Elite will get you down to about 8oz. You can adjust all creep out of them, and slight over travel. Amazing trigger, I own 4 of them, between 8-10oz on mine.

TriggerTech special is a good starter trigger too. Gets down about the same at the Timney 510, maybe a touch nicer feel.

TriggerTech Diamond are very nice. Gets down to about 6-7oz safely. Zero creep, but zero overtravel. Some guys don't like zero overtravel, but if you set them really light, I don't think it is as much of an issue. I have never noticed any ill effects. I own 3 of them, between 6-8oz on mine.

Bix N Andy Tac Sport are great triggers. I own one of the new Tac Sport Pros, and at 4oz, it is crazy light. Noticeably lighter than a Diamond @ 6oz. 2oz doesn't sound like a lot, but you can feel it. Super crisp, and just a touch of overtravel. But not cheap.

Jewell. I have never been a fan of Jewell triggers personally. I have never been able to get the creep out of them, which I hate. You can tune them light, however, and the slight overtravel is good. I have shot several, but do not own any of my own.

Shilen makes a decent Match trigger too. I had one for years, and a few thousand rounds. Set at 1.5#, it was crisp with no creep, and just a touch of over travel. Cheaper than most others too.

I have Jewell , Timney and rifle basix triggers they all work well for me . I also have some triggers that came from the factory that I like . I kind of think that triggers are like the rest of the things we use some good points some bad points for each brand so it's a matter of doing just what you are doing ask and get differing opinions from people and why they have formed that opinion then weigh the information and buy accordingly what you then feel is the best option for your use . What type of climate will you be using it in dry dusty , wet and humid ,or both do you keep your rifles cleaned and lubed , do you use any thing to keep the dust and grit out of the moving parts , dry lubes ect. do you use any thing to keep the moisture from affecting the way the moving parts from being affected by it . Some of my rifles are truck guns and get a lot of abuse so the triggers need to stand up to the dirt and dust as well as the jarring ect . of that life . Some of them are a once in a while use and are kept cleaned after each use so a trigger that does well being kept clean works just fine with them .

The trigger that is in the gun is one of the Lawyered Up Triggers, tried to dial it in, waste of time.

I ordered a Trigger Tech this morning, got to be better than a trigger with Lawyer written all over it.

Having used both I prefer the Timney. A controversial topic, but I like a degree of over-travel in my triggers.

I have both in hunting rifles. I remove the barreled actions from the stocks and flush the trigger assembly with Ronson lighter fluid as recommended by Jewell. This is done 1-2 times a year depending on use of a particular weapon.

You won't know you want a Jewell or other top end trigger until you use one. I've used the basic Timneys and they are great over the factory triggers. However, the Jewell I have is way better. It hard to go back to anything once I've spent a season behind the Jewell. I'd love to try out some of the newer top end triggers but I would rather have another gun that upgrade all my triggers.

id pick based on the weight and the shoe design. i really like the timney flat trigger shoe so i use those. i dont need weights in OZ so its not an issue. i have friends that use trigger tech and love them. i do know that GAP in KC switched from timney to trigger tech. i think both are quality items.
