181 gr Hammer Hunters

You're running a 181gr in a .300 winny for California deer and I'm using the 64gr in a 22-243 for California deer...it'll be interesting to see the end results of both bullets.

I'll guarantee dead deer with both!!

Seems like we always wait till the last minute lol. Thankfully they were super easy to dial in. Loaded .040 off and that was it. I'll definitely report back after season.

@Josh Young. What COAL does this put you at? I am having a 300WM spun up right now and have some of these in mind. They were long in my Ruger 300 WM and would not fit the mag. Also loaded up some of the 152s because they scream!

Awesome!! I was kind of thinking that the 181's might be awesome in a 300. Wsm for a light carry rifle out too 700 ish

love to see more reports on the 181 for SM too

I tried some in my 300 WSM and they shot real well in my rifle, but opened up a bit more than I liked out pass 300 yards. Also, tried the 166 which shot a bit better.

what speeds did you hit with the wsm? what was the OAL when they were touching lands with the 181's? (was the rifle a saami chamber or custom)
did you try the 174's? or 166's? --got a shorter 300wsm in the works and I like the HH bullets for my hunting loads

If I remember correctly, I was able to obtain a speed slightly above 3000 FPS. I was shooting .030 off the lands of a saami chamber. I do have a Wyatts extended box and it would barely fit. Short of it, I stayed with the Berger 180 Elites.

I was looking at your data - what cartridge is that? It is taking me a lot more H1000 to get another 100 FPS in a 300 RUM.

Last pic is loaded at 76gr with an average of 3170fps. 300Win Mag. I have about 200 rounds through the barrel and I think it's sped up some. But, the Hammers do shoot faster than the other tested bullets.
I was limited on time before my hunt so 76gr is what I loaded and got data for. My deer was at 80 yards haha but, my buddy shot his with my rifle at 400. 1 shot and dirt nap.
