Help Comparing Kenetrek to Danners.

I've worn Danners for years and have had good experience with them. Now I've got this arthritis crap in my left big toe and I need a slightly wider toe box. Typically I wear Elk Hunters or Canadians in 13 EE but they're built on a narrow last so I think that's the issue. I need a little wider boot so I'm thinking about a wider last Danner like the Trophy or maybe looking into the Kenetrek 400 Mountain Extreme or maybe the Crispi's. Anyone have any advice on how these boots compare size wise to the Danners? Which give a little more room around the toes?

I have the mountain Extremes and Crispi Colorado and find them about perfect for my D width. Also, some toe box sizes are different between models of the same brand. Crispi has YouTube videos and go into discussion about which models are more roomy and etc.

Not sure if this helps, but the only real way to determine correct size is to try them on...but I am sure you know this. Good luck.

Bought a that very Kenetrek. It seams to be a good boot for support. They leaked right out of the box, with in a month.
Sent them in and was told I was to "oil" them, nothing wrong. After keeping them oiled, They work as advertised.
Can't tell you they will be that much better then the Danners.

Interesting recommendation from then since they have their version of waterproofing built into the boot.

My Mountain Extremes Developed a leak after a couple of seasons of use. I sent them back for testing and refurbishment since the rand was coming off and the soles were wearing badly. Came back looking like new and have not leaked so far. By the way, these are extremely comfortable too.

I am a fan of the US made Danners. Having said that, I bought a pair of Kennetrek's at SHOT this year. I have been doing hikes with weight a couple of times per week during this lockdown.

I also have wide feet, typically wear a 11.5 EE. I have found the Kennetreks to be very comfortable (they are still a mountain boot) with plenty of room width wise.

First off, sorry to hear about your arthritis. Aching toes or feet sucks.
I have some loggers and they are great, but a narrow, snug boot. I also have Danner Vicious EE boots, and they are a very roomy boot with a big composite box toe-- prolly the biggest toe I've ever had.
