Yes, I shoot braked with a McMillan A5 adjustable. It's a pretty heavy rifle as well.

The only problem I've found is that if you get a short range shot on a Texas whitetail, they blow up due to the MV and design... but I stick with them...

What was it that you shoot for mule deer now?
All great choices and very versatile rounds. My thinking might be a little different from others. You said you planned on getting a 6.5 after this one. Are you talking about something like a 6.5 creedmoore or something like a 6.5 prc? I don't see much point in having both the prc and a 7mag. 7 mag and a small 6.5 is very different. I think there is enough difference between a 300 wm and a 6.5 prc to matter. All great choices but I like to spread the gaps a bit.-- Of course of budget and time allows you can't have to many!

If I will ever buy a factory rifle I'll go with Tikka in 7mmRM, nothing wrong with other rifles, it's just so cheap, well built and the action is so well made that almost anyone makes pre-fit barrels for it. I think for a factory rifle and the idea of building a semi-custom on a budget in the future Tikka is the way to go.
My last rifle threading for a can was $50 so, not something I worry about other than "convenience".
I must admit, however, that the factory threading on a Weatherby Vanguard in 257 Weatherby Magnum tipped the scales a bit in its favor.
For ~$550, a Weatherby Vanguard in one of the 'bee' calibers is hard to pass up. Myself, there is little I wouldn't hunt with a 257 in North America. A 270 or 7mm might give you some extra oomph but, a solid hit from a 257 with a good bullet will do the job without any excessive 'wear and tear' on the shooter or their shoulder.
My 300WM is a Remington Sendero which is a good rifle but, I don't see myself hunting with it now unless I go to Africa or if a Grizzly or Polar Bear is something I decide I need to take home.

I was thanking of a 6.5 creedmoore and what ever caliber I end up buying this time around.i have 2 308s one for hunting and one for targets or blind hunting.im just wanting something different and like you said cant ever have to many guns

All three cartridges are great choices, but the 7mm Rem Mag takes the #1 spot for me.

Bit rhe 7mm Rem Mag has more power, more factory ammo optipns if you dont reload, if you reload tons of components available. Yes the 280AI is sexier but its still not the 7mm Rem Mag. I find the recoil in all three very similar.
The 7mm Rem Mag is a boring cartridge I know, but it just works, from 120gr to 180gr bullets, what else do you need.
