Saw quite a few posts over the 'net about reported Leupold tracking issues.....not only for the 3i models but also the 5's. Haven't seen much over last year or so. Was it real issue? If so, do you think it's in the past? FYI.....looking at 3i side focus model.

I wish I could tell you something. I don't know. I found a vx3 that's a new display item for an ok price, not a great deal but an ok deal. I'm itching to try it but Im a little hesitant

I've never met anyone in person that's had a problem with a leupold track. I have (5) vx3 and Vx3i mixed. (3) Vx5 and (2) Vx6. Most of the vx3 are on normal hunting guns that I don't dope but 2 of the vx3 and all the vx5 and Vx6 are. I've had them all past 1k yards dozens of times and they always come back to zero. This is some internet BS. Leupys track.

The scope I'm looking at is a regular vx3. Is there much difference in the glass between the vx3 & 3i?

 Do a search you'll find plenty to read about. If you want a cheap lightweight scope that may or may not work properly buy a VX-3 or 3i scope. Then again the VX-5's and VX6-HD's also have had problems. There's no way I'd pay that kind of money for a Leupold VX6-HD scope when there are much better options at half the price.

Glass quality wise My vx3is are a bit clearer but I believe that's due to them being newer and the vx3 have hundreds more hours hunted with, dirt, dust, water, grime on the lenses over the years... with that being said the vx3 finish seems a shade more durable than the vx3is I have.

These people talking about how poorly the vx6 track can come watch the next time I take my WSM, RUM and 300WBY past 1000. Anybody in the southern middle Tennessee area can shoot me a PM if interested.

I have 2 nightforce NXS I have had swaros. The leupolds don't beat the NXS IMO as I prefer the MOAR to the leupold T MOA but that's kinda subjective.

Well, eleven posts into this and all positive comments except for one guy who has no experienece with them, but has read bad stuff and has sworn them off. Hmmm...
BTW, to date I have had no failures on VX3is or VX5HD scopes on my rifles... and I do dial a bit. Hopefully the success continues.

I have been wondering about the VX-3i and LRP as well. I have never had an issue with the 5s or the VX-III or VX-3s. If the LRP tracks it seems like it would be a comparatively good value. For all the grief Leupold has gotten over the last couple years, it would be interesting to get the numbers from all producers on fail returns per 1000 scopes sold and reason for failure. The VX-3i definitely has a better price point than the VX-3.

Do tell. Who is the poster who has no experience with Leupold's? And you know this how?
