New Savage 110 Ultralite with Proof CF Barrels

Will do, shipping has slowed so will hopefully get it by month end. Looking to put a MBM 5 port on it. In the meantime, trying to piece together dies/brass/etc...

If they built these off the same fluted/lightened action as the 'Lightweight Hunter' that is a hard pass for me.

That action was one of the roughest, worst feeling I've ever cycled. Hope that sorted that out and didn't just put lipstick (Proof) on a pig...

Congrats!

Please let us know if if it's a long action and the shank size if you can, that or the 28 nosler is what I'm looking to order.

CONTRATS! Indeed!

So.... enquiring minds want to know, is it a small shank or a large ?

My original thinking was that it was a large since the 6.5 PRC is essentially a magnum, and I thought Savage had sworn off putting magnums out with the small. But then this is Savage, and the Proof PRC 24" Savage prefit is a small according to their website. Their 26" is a large and heavier, and since this is a 'Ultralite' maybe it is the lighter small? Or maybe Savage bought all of the large 24s...

Everything we have is a large so it makes no sense for us to add a small to the family, but dang I sure hope it's a large, been saving up since August. It looks like a Small though. Too bad.

From the pics he sent me, it looks like a large shank, long action.

Savage originally only used the large shank for wsm/ultra mag calibers, then transitioned to the target actions having the large shank as well. I think anything that's on a "factory blueprinted" Savage action is also a large shank as both my 338lapua and 308w savage stealths are large shank, even though the 398w is a short action

Just picked up one of these in 28 Nosler today (Online purchase, shipped to FFL). I haven't messed with it enough have much feedback. My 1st Savage purchase. I've shot one, just never owned one.

Barrel does not appear to be your average Savage Pre-Fit. Muzzle is only about .743", at the thread cap. Profile seems similar to the "Bull Sporter" profile Proof offers on their all stainless barrels. Dimensions match up pretty well anyways.

I was going to use a Muscle Brake I have for the rifle but at a little over 1.1" diameter, it looks stupid.

Mine weighs 6lbs, 6oz as shipped from the factory. If that would upset you, be warned.

Magnums were stated to be heavier. The barrel contour on these are "Proof Light Sendero."
