Bartlein carbon fiber wrapped

Look it up...cool to touch on the outside doesn't mean diddly to the bore.
Sure it does, means whatever resin/fiber matrix is a good insulator and you are cooking the bore.

If they can get the carbon matrix (the whole assembly, resin and carbon) to dissipate heat I think it shows promise. I would think if Bartlein is doing this it would be done correctly. I'd like to try one if they have that process down. The bore/blank would be done right with Bartlein doing that part. If the carbon will work as Chamberman posted it would be great.

The thread on the other site listed above said there is allot more steel on the cylinder and muzzle for the gunsmith to remove. The weight of the Proof and Bartlein will be very close when the barrel is chambered and crowned/threaded. We'll have to see when some get chambered.
I'd really like to see a CF wrapped #3 or 3B barrel.
About the same as Proof. But heavier.

This company that's wrapping the Bartleins used to wrap the mullerworks barrels last summer. They stopped using his business for some reason, and went to another. Now he's landed the bartleins, let's hope the same issues dont come up.

When did Dan start making carbon barrels? Where are they available at?

They started having blanks wrapped last summer. Then dismissed the wrapping company shortly after. They started using Pederson Precision LLC who's also in Wisconsin. Muller contours and laps, Pederson wraps and cures, then Muller checks the lap and addresses if needed be from the carbon process. Sh!ts done right! I've already ordered one. And the best thing........They're only 550$. They heavy for carbon about like these Bartleins, the mullers have a 1.25 shank too which is good thing. Contact Pederson Precision for ordering info.

Good info! Thank you!

What about carbon6 barrels?

Interesting.
Process seems to be different than others?
The Bartlein is said to be reamed, cut rifled, & lapped, After the wrapping process.

I like that you can get a #4 contour.

Hmmm I wonder what kind of stress relieving they do after the boring/rifling process? As far as I know all barrels are stress relieves after boring or rifling, either by hammering, cryo, or heating. You'd think that heat(1100°) or hammer would damage the wrap. Maybe -300° cryo would suffice. I could be totally off base, but stress relieving is a MUST occur part of process after contouring before lapping.
