I have been hearing about HR 5717 from different youtube channels and internet sites. I got to take a look at the text and it is bad for us.

Here is the link to the bill https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th...17/text#toc-H8AA5917E301E4EA18739FF9A3A6631C6

I have not finished reading all of it but here are some highlights. In title V it states that bolt guns are safe but then it lists a bunch of different bolt guns that are "exempt". I could not find Accuracy International, Desert Tech, or Barrett. The SAKO TRG-S was exempt but the TRG 42 was not. So does that mean if you have a rifle built on a Stiller action then it is not exempt? It would appear it's not. I did not find MasterPiece Precision Arms listed as an exempt rifle either. This goes to show that our enemies aren't just interested in banning just ARs and AKs, they also have certain bolt guns in mind as well.

And of course, the bill outlaws semi-autos. Single-shot rifles such as the Barrett M99 are not included on the exempted list.

As I said earlier, I am told that there are worse things in this bill but I have not had time to research them yet

This legislation in a time like this shows you what vile buckets of vomit our enemies on the antigun side truly are. We have an outbreak to contend with and they can find nothing better to do than find ways to violate our rights

If you can contact your state reps to oppose H.R 5717

Take care and be safe

It's a HOUSE bill that is going nowhere. It's just virtue signaling by the Dems to fire up their base before the Nov 2020 elections. They need to "show" they are doing something about "gun violence" so they can get their money from Bloomberg, et al.

This thing is DOA at the Senate and will never get signed into law by the President.

Having said all that, people SHOULD still tell their Representatives they are displeased with laws such as this, which do NOTHING good for America and actually seem to be a violation of the oath of office these representatives took when they went to D.C. (you know, the one about upholding the Constitution; last I checked the Bill of Rights was still a part of the Constitution and the second amendment has not been deleted.)

Seeing how most of us are working from home why not email or call our Senators and House reps and speak against H.R. 5717 and its companion Senate Bill S.3254. In addition to expressing contempt for these two pieces of legislation perhaps inquire why certain members of the House and Senate are wasting time trying to violate our rights as opposed to drafting legislation to assist in combating this pandemic and the economic maladies to come.

If you are not contacting your reps about this YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!! Get off this forum for a minute and contact your reps, take 5 minutes to help save this sport (way of life) that we all enjoy.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...? I don't know and I don't care! Is this you? Then do something!
