Suzuki king quad...reliable?

Hey guys, in the market for a wheeler. Currently looking at a 07 king quad 700 that a guy has for sale. Very well taken care of. I dont know alot about Suzuki's. I know a guy that has one that he's beat the crap out of and it still runs like a champ. Didnt know if anyone here has had any experience with them. Please dont suggest a Honda I just want to know about the Suzukis.

Everyone I've been around I would trust as much as the Honda's. Never seen any issues with them when hauling out elk. I kinda wish they would make a SxS.

I've been around them a good portion of my life. Started out with the 300s they had in the mid to late 90s. My dad switched to an Eiger in 2004-2005 with the new CVTs and that thing sucked down the gas. My brother bought the same quad only manual and he'd go twice the distance on a tank. Then in 07-08 my dad switched back to the king quad. He's had it ever since and it's still on the original belt (think he has 4K miles or so on it?). And I can tell you from experience they can be rolled a few times and start right back up.lol

Now me personally I have a Honda, but I wouldn't think twice about buying a King quad. It will last just as long as any other as long as you take care of it.

I'd say buy it !!! Great friend has a new 2015/2016 500 King Quad Automatic transmission , Oh what a great machine ,mines 2004 Vinson 500 automatic transmission limited edition and she's been Fantastic and Ultra Reliable ,my friends is more down/sized from mine and more nimble rides like a Cat/Oh/Lac ,his has power steering mine does not ,I'll Beat you've never Knew that Suzuki made the First 4 Wheel ATV's . Oh yeah Go SUZUKI , for sure !!! Cheers !

I bought a new 2007 700 waaaay back and it has been great. Only issues:
1. plastic panels are flimsier than I'd like
2. Fuel filter replaced once
3. Make starter wire larger diameter for more juice
4. Put the clutch plate on the lathe to "adjust" and it became even more of a monster
If you get serious, I can tell you more mods

Larger diameter starter wire sounds interesting. I heard they are a bear in the cold to start. I've also read 05-07 ate batteries like they were going out of style because the ECU still drained the battery with the key off. Thas really the only thing I've read that has been consistent. Just have to be careful with the internet. Everytime someone has something go wrong they run to the internet so I dont know exactly what to believe so I figured I'd ask here

Have you tried looking on carcomplaints.com?
It will show you good/bad years and common issues to keep an eye open for-- iirc it even gives average cost to repair problems so you know if you want to take the chance with that type of cimmon problem

It is primarily my cold weather machine. Let the fuel pump pressurize everything and don't keep cranking. Give it 3 seconds then let the pump pressurize fuel again. I've had good luck. As for batteries, I have had 4 batteries in 13 years. I started using a leak charger when it seemed low and been good since. They had a recall for ecu or ignition switch... I forget which. I'd buy another in a heartbeat

Now with that said, I still have the original Hinda Foreman from 1985, I have changed the battery only 3 times! My Honda's have been very very reliable. My King Quad is a 2007 and it is going strong!!! Look at Honda and buy with confidence if you go King Quad. Both are excellent

Thanks guys! Price seems right, only has 1100 miles on it and has been very well taken care of by the sounds of it. It does come with a battery tender and has never had to replace a battery. If it all checks out then I'll buy it

I have looked at honda, but the price of them used is just ridiculous even on a 20 year old machine

I have a 750 kind quad
Only problem is it doesnt like to start in -40 c
other than that they are top notch

Picked it up. Pretty good shape for a 07 really. I rode it at the guys house with no issues. Get it home and it ran for 2 min and then stalled and wouldnt run. It would idle but would stall if you gave it gas. Did research and put a new spark plug in it. All fixed and runs great
