Shortening the 338-378

I don't know what this alternative cartridge is, I cannot find it on the web. I'm not getting any specs on it - and the pictures, while pretty, still are not informative about dimensions. ..and my curiosity is piqued.
So, still waiting for answers to my actual question. I am being given alternatives, but no symmetrical responses. Also, not sure where the 340 entered the discussion.
So, to sum up: If you want to offer an alternative, please give me its dimensions and specs or where I can learn about it on web.
And, if there is someone who has background on MY project , the wide 338, I'd love to hear about making the brass up. (can I just resize it and move the shoulder back that far?)
Barrels are another thing for a later time.
Gracias, helpers.
You will need 4 custom dies to form the brass and two custom reamers for the chamber and loading dies.

You won't find anything on the internet as I've suppressed all info the last year and a half to protect my designs, now that factory brass is rolling out, reamers are ready and dies coming soon, I may release it sooner than planned but at this point it's in protected status

I always wondered when you were gonna start doing this. I stalk your posts all the time because of your wildcats but know the story of people grabbing the specs and cutting you out. I will be reaching out to you when I get the need for another crazy build.

Maybe one of you has done this. If so, great. Please share the experience: the work and the outcome.
The notion I'm working with is that shorter, wider columns of powder seem to burn more efficiently, yielding a bit better performance for powder used.
Though the bolt face will be large, the brass should measure out to 2.50 inches, and now fitting the once longer 338-378 into an -06 length action.... but with 30% more volume than .338 Win Mag and close to 10% over 340 Weatherby.
So, in the instant case, a bit more volume than the 340 but, more importantly, perhaps more efficiently packaged to burn. .. perhaps nearly matching the long guy's performance with 15% less powder. That would proof the concept of shorter/wider.

If somebody has wandered down this path before, please advise. Or if some important element needs addressing in the concept, likewise.
thanks
The original 338-378 developed by Elmer Keith and a fellow by the last name of Thompson shortened the 378 WEA case to make this round. It was originally called the 338-378 KT. When Weatherby brought out their version, they simply necked down the 378 case without shortening it. The belief at the time was that the full length case would be very overbore, an therefore inefficient.

ding, ding, ding !

sort of ... but not quite ... and mucho mo better ...

mag bolt face, no belt, factory mfg headstamped brass, hammer forged tough brass alloy for long primer pocket life, superior case to case runout dims & weight = zero !
will clean out Win Mag, Nosler and PRC chambers without barrel setback, one pass and done, 100% safe for Rem 700 & Win 70 actions

Have you had any issues with bolt trust with the large size of the case and the smaller case head?

The Master has spoken, good on you.Anybody thats been on this site for some time has had chance to follow your work,Swamplord. You always put your efforts out there for us to enjoy, and the progression is great that you've made.Just look at his current post on thread ''Dang Pretty" And I'm like What has he Not tried?

One of the reasons for the development of the Razor series is because of all the feedback from shooters on this site

both negative and positive feedback impacted this design

the chief complaints were addressed in regards to using Remington 700 actions and safety was the driver in the race

After a number of years of diddling with ELR wildcats, I felt a solid long range magazine capable hunting cartridge that didn't require expensive custom actions was something I needed to do, It had to compete favorably in case capacity/power of current favorites I've been using myself ie the 338 Edge and 338 Norma P'imped,

I know there is a faction of individuals on this site that I will never appease and they will continue to deride and critique anything I do , but they are like the mess on the streets of California, I'll step around and continue on my way

I personally would love to have my current project in a 300 Razor! Would love to know when and where I could get reamer and brass for it! Seems like it's the answer to all my questions! Sorry if this doesn't correspond with OP

I'm interested in the 30. Looking for something to zing the 250 atip for 1000 yard comp. It would have a 1.450 32 inch barrel. The gun weights 77 pounds. How fast do you think it would do with that barrel.
Shep

sure do, It's my cartridge design

265 gr ABLR in the 338 Razor, faster than the 338 Edge, 338 Lapua and 338-378 Wby can push it, with mild pressures, long brass life and magazine fed... in Remington 700 and Win 70 riflesView attachment 184210
You had to go and release this just 3 months after I finished my 338 rum, thanks man! What are you getting for velocity with 300 bergers? My rum is doing 2830 from a 28" barrel w/ N570.
