I recently rebarreled my 6.5x284. All of my once fired brass from the old barrel will not chamber in the new barrel. It has all been full length resized.

Any ideas?

Yes. There are rub Mark's on the bottom 15% of the case. It's like it's not sizing all the way down using Redding dies.
Ok, that also may mean that your dies may not work all that great for your new chamber, even if you buy new brass. Not trying to be all knowing, but if you buy new brass, on your 3rd firing you may get clickers and hard to extract.

Just had a new 65284 built also...
The shoulder touched in the new chamber...
Increased the press to tolerate the brass to the new chamber by somewhat of an 1/8 turn...good to go...
But i also just ordered to boxes of lapua brass....
Should be good for life......maybe....might use it all up on zombies soon..... 0326201218.jpg
Wanted to try a proof barrel...and iota krux stock...trigger tech...will see how it goes.....also leups 6.5-20x50lrp....had the barrel ends cerakoted tungsten to match the proof...bolt handle tungsten...receiver and bdl darkened tungsten cerakote...and stainless screws and sling swivels to match the trigger and safety.....

Any ideals? Yes, I do not assume the cases gets full length sized; I measure the length of the case from the shoulder/datum to the case head, I determine if the die made it down to the shell holder when sizing. There are times the case has more resistance to sizing than the press can overcome. And then there are ways to increase the presses ability to overcome the cases ability to resist sizing.

It is possible to make the tools and it is possible to purchase the tools.

It may give some insight by measuring the back of the chamber, a new case and a once fired case in said chamber and compare

You might be able to find a trim die just to see if it will full length size your brass. Not sure if they make one for your case but, worth exploring for a cheap fix. Your gunsmith might have to retrofit your chamber if, for some reason it wasn't reamed to the correct specifications towards the rear of your chamber, now causing excessive tightness on your casing. Just a thought.

I have the same problem with fired brass in a winchester mod 70 30-06
Will not load in my Sako m85 30-06
So I now just keep the telaods separate to be safe

It should be the riflesmiths responsibility to provide a chamber that is useful. Make the riflesmith show you that the chamber works. He should show you the reamer and gauges. You will want to know the neck diameter anyway. Does he have a diagram of the reamer? You will want to copy that. Find out who made the reamer, they keep records but you will need the gunsmith to approve access to that record.

Whidden has sorted out a problem like this for the .243 WSSM. They will make custom dies (that come with a shoulder bump gauge) for a modest price. They work off the chamber diagram above or the combination fired and unfired cases that fit.
