H50BMG for 6.5PRC?

There is a 6.5 prc review I read online where a guy was loading it with us869. I haven't loaded any prc roads up yet, but have been collecting materials. I plan on starting with retumbo and Sierra gamekings. If I can't get that to work to my liking I will be going with h-1000 and 140 grain Berger hybrid. I did buy some US-869 just in case. Please let us know what you came up with
 
I have been trying several combinations but have found that WC860 (another 50 cal) powder works great in my savage with 26" barrel. I only have a 200 yard range to play with. But getting under an inch using 61.0 gr of WC860 behind a 147 eld-m at 200 yards and a velocity of about 2600 fps

2600 with a 147 in a prc? Is this intentional? That's crazy slow.

that's creedmoor speed is why I ask and figured it was by choice. You certainly can find accuracy at the higher psi and fps. Hornady minimum starts at 2700 for a 26" and goes to 3050 for their recommendations. I'm not hear to tell you what to do or how, just trying to understand the thought process.

Just looking but accurate, only 200 yard range to shoot, exploring options for WC860
 
6.5x284 and PRC have very close case capacities. The former has been around for a long time, so there should be data that gives you a place to start for most powder and bullet weights.

Thanks, I will take a look. Berger rep gave my some data for H1000. Going to start with a pressure and then a ladder test. Is 300yds a good range for a ladder?

I Don't mess with a traditional ladder or OCW any more. I do the Satterlee velocity ladder. If doing a traditional ladder 300 is minimum, prefer 500. When doing the Satterlee you check for pressure and velocity nodes. It accomplishes both well with min ammo. Then the next step is to focus on the upper velocity node that is stabile and you usually find a low es/sd load that is accurate within another 10 rounds. Final step is confirming 3-5 rounds of the stabile node. Usually I find both accuracy and velocity stability at that time.

If you look up the Hornady data on line you will see load data for 140-143 and 147. I use the 147 data for the 150 plus bullets too, especially the 156. It's been pretty spot on for me.

I just watched a utube video with satterlee. Looks easy and I just picked up a labradar. I'm gonna try this test. I guess you could do both at the same time?

Yes, that's how I do it. Use the lab to record to fps. Use the target to give me feedback on accuracy. When I loaded for my PRC I did it this way at 400 and 550. I used 2 rounds for step 2 instead of 1. That gave me enough info to move to step 3 and confirm. Took about 30 rounds. Step 1 was 10. step 2 was 10. step 3 was 10.
 
Nice! Do You have any experience with Berger pills? I am going to run the test with the 140 VLD T and have them at .050 off. Based on what Satterlee said in the vid I am thinking of taking them to .100 off. Your thoughts? Or does it really matter since I am looking for a velocity node for this test?

To me it doesn't matter that much. I always run enough bullet in the case to ensure good concentricity and the cartridge will feed properly. If I am not overly limited in COAL I'll run 20 thou- 50 thou. Velocity is affected but not largely by seating depth unless going extreme to extreme. I have had very good success with 140's at .100 off in several 6.5-284's tho so if you are inclined to test there, I would not discourage it at all.
