Looks are the easy place to find fault in a rifle, accuracy is a lot harder place to find fault, especially in a savage. I love their looks but realize it's different strokes for different folks, I also like tight little groups....difference is, everybody seems to like tight little groups Savages give a lotta' bang for the buck and this gun looks like it will deliver that as well. Actually, Savage factory SA mags accommodate longer COAL than AICS style SA or WSSM, including the ones with the front rib removed (eg Accurate Mag WSSM)

Great! What is the max COAL for the long actions? What is the max COAL for the short action 6.5 PRC? The other short actions don't matter because those aren't the problem.

I clicked on the same caliber choices to the left on the Savage website, Savage lists the 270 at 22" , and the 28 nosler at 24" which doesnt make sense to me, 270 to me should be a min. Of 24" and the 28 nosler 26"+

I can live with the barrel length. The part I can't make sense of is keeping the 280AI at 1:9 twist when they're already using 1:8.44 for the 28 Nosler. Why not put the fast twist on both.

This is why customs are the way to go, you end up paying almost as much money for a factory rifle that doesn't check all your boxes.
I'm sure like most savages the stock and trigger will be junk too

Customized anyway...
Get a used Tikka for $500 (just as good as many custom actions) drop $10 on a trigger spring, quality prefit from Criterion or others..$375, add a barrel nut $30, go gauge $35.
Let's see..now we're at $950.
Add a good stock, let's say a Mesa Altitude for $600.
Now you've got a really really nice rifle for $1550 with the twist, barrel length, and throating that you want.

Add $600 to the cost of the savage for a good stock, and another $150 for a trigger.
That's where I say it's not necessarily much cheaper than a custom.
Of course a person could spend as much as they wanted on a build, this is just a simple comparison.

My bad I didn't realize a barrel had to be CF to be custom..
Certainly a cheap bundle if you subscribe to the "benefits" of CF over steel barrels, people who chose to buy them will just have to be ok with the factory configurations is all
