Would you fire form from the 270 case for the 270 Sherman or use the 280 case like you do with you 6.5? Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that is what I read in another forum you did to make your 6.5 Sherman?

You could use either one but it would be a little easier to use the .280 because of headspacing. You could size the .280 neck down with a .270 die just far enough to chamber stiffly and fire form with some shotgun powder and cream of wheat or neck the .270 up to .280 and then partially back to .270. Another method, which I don't personally prefer, is to simply load a .270 round so that the bullet engages the lands to headspace on and fire away. It is VERY critical when fireforming a wildcat to do it with proper headspacing or you will separate all your cases at the web, if not the first firing, shortly thereafter. Another case you can use, which is a very good option,but spendy, is the 6.5x65 RWS. This brass will last!!..............Rich

I was going to start my 270 AI Project but sold the Rifle i have a Box of Nosler 280 AI Brass necked down to 270 AI already if any body wants them PM me

Are there any issues with the C.O.A.L. with the Sherman rounds (6.5 & 270) in factory DBM? I have a Remington (30-06) I am going to do a full custom (6.5) and a Browning (270) that I want to rebarrel (270).

I have plenty of room in my 700 Rem. and cmantha (lrh) has one built on a M70 pre-64 that works just fine.............Rich

Nosler has just announced a 165 gr ABLR which should be perfect for your situation. I am trying pursuing more information on this directly from Nosler and if you're intrested I'll pass it along.

We have come a long way from 2011! I'd rewrite The 270AI types of powders to use. Wildcat and Matrix came out with up to 190 gr .277 I found the 169.5 grain RVLD as the best for my setup. I tried Retumbo and R-25, but when r-26 came out it has been my go to powder even for 140, 150's.
I guess I missed the 190 gr .277 offering from Matrix?
When Wildcat was still in business I bought a bunch of their heavy .277 stuff. the 169.5 grain through 190 gr. The 169.5 has been my long time big game round. I used a bunch of Matrix 175 gr hunting bullets, but they also discontinued non profitable or popular weights. I didn't have the twist or the power for 190's. Roy in Idaho had the 270 Allen mag. Probably something like the modern 27 nosler.
But anyway these are 190 gr. wildcats compared to 140 SPBT

FYSA, 175 Matrix are still in full production and are again able to ship to the US. "I" never saw the 190s in .277 but have seen the 190s in .284.

I just got through talking in Nosler about the new 165 grain ABLR bullet and they said that the 10:1 twist that we have in stock rifles would not stabilized these bullets. Are your experiences different with heavy bullets?
