7mm Remington Magnum. Didn't notice, but hopefully your barrel is 8 -8.5 twist. Chamber it to shoot 180 Scenar or 195 EOL. Skip the brake. Buy some Seekins rings and bases. Grab a used Nightforce Atacr 4-16x40 for $1700 or a NXS 5.5-22x50 for $1300.

Three weeks from the time I shipped it to the time I got it back. Even then the windage turret was all over the place and it wouldn't hold a steady zero. And yes the rings were tight and the rail is pinned to the action.

And what did they do for you at that point?

I didn't care at that point. A note in the box when it came back said they couldn't find anything wrong with it, but the reticle was fixed. Refer to post 21.

If you don't like the idea of burning your barrels up in no time, especially if you're gonna be pushing them a little hot, go with the 7mm rem mag. It will do all you ever need it to, throw some 180's or some 195 EOL's and you'd be killing stuff all day long (if you have 8" twist). Just skip the VX and get a Mark 5HD and be happy for along time.

Having a new long range hunting rifle built off of a rem 700. Haven't quite decided on cartridge but leaning towards 28 nosler. Any others I should be looking at? I've got an edge fill McMillan, and proof carbon fiber barrel so I'm trying to keep weight down. The vx6HD has caught my eye with being light and having everything I want. Anyone have first hand experience with the 4-24? Any other scopes I should be looking at? Let me know what you think!

I have the VX6HD 4-24x52 and it is amazing. Crystal clear glass, tracks perfectly - I have run it out to 1250 several times. Its on my PRC. I love the TMOA reticle. It is awesome in low light situations.

None, my vx5hd was crap at tracking and came directly with a canted reticle. I don't recommend Leupold but have heard good things about the mark 5.

I have had 3 VX5HDS that track perfectly in addition to my VX6HD that also tracks perfectly. I know people have bad experiences now and then, but all if the VX5 and VX6HD's I have owned and shot have been phenomenal.

Also, the 28 Nosler is a bad boy. If you want something that won't burn the barrel as fast you can go with a 280AI.

You had a bad experience. Leupolds forever Have had not the best tracking turrets. The new high dollar are better I am sure. If you are adjusting left or down and compressing the spring they are ok. But coming up or right it takes a few shots for them to get where you want them. So if I am coming right or up I go too far and then come back to where I want to be. A few taps with the plastic handle of a big screw driver helps too. But if you are dialing when hunting of course that would be a pain. And not an option. I have a few VX6,s and I have not had your trouble. But the old VX 2,s and 3,s were pretty much poke and hope after an adjustment. The only leupold I have ever had to send back was a VX3 1.5 to 5 on a weatherby 416. Rifle quit shooting and I took it off and shook it and it jingled. lol not good.

$1100 to hit it with a screw driver, ha with today's tech, and even people like vortex getting optics to track. I'll stick with NF.

I agree. The NF and comparable are a cut above. I have a customer that is all hot and bothered about the march scopes. And he has NF. Buy what you want.

I have had good luck with the better sig scopes. Reasonable price and track great.

8" wont stabilize 180s?? My 7saum with 8" is pushing 180 eldms at 3025 and we messed with 195s alittle but ended up staying with 180s

Im pretty sure my tikka is a 1-9.5" but maybe I'm wrong. If it was 1-8 I'd definitely be shooting 180s
