Savage 110 High Country

If you have limited time, I'd probably buy some factory ammo like the Hornady Precision Hunter ELDX 143gr or the Hornady ELDM 147gr. I'd hunt with either, personally, but that's just me. If I was super short on time, I'd buy one or two of each and just run with whatever one shot best. Break-in your barrel after hunting season. 1st cleaning may take extra effort & time but if you're running into a deadline to be out hunting, skip the break-in. Get that thing zero'd and go hunt.

If you have lots of free-time, disregard my advice... Spend a day or two shooting and cleaning, shooting and cleaning. :)

Very short on time, with work , I might be able to get out with it once if not twice , before gun season on the 16th. It has not been shipped yet , so the clock is ticking.

I did get my Savage in time to hunt with it this year but the deer didn't cooperate. Any way, I was able to zero it in at 200 yds with only 13 rounds. It shoots 1 moa at 200 yds. Now I have some time for a proper break in and to develop my deer load for next years whitetail and mule deer hunt in west Texas.

Glad to hear it. I think you will really enjoy that rifle. I lost track did you go with the 6.5 prc?

I went with the creedmoor , I have 2 300 win mags so I felt no need for the PRC. Anybody know the muzzle thread pitch on the 6.5 creedmoor? I'm looking for a sleek looking brake that I can get cerokoted the same color. Would be nice if Savage would sell the brake .

I like my creed but I like my 6.5prc better. It is no where close to 300mag recoil. It's actually not too much more recoil than the 6.5creed. If all your shots are inside 400 yards then the creed will do you fine though! Congrats on the gun.

5/8 x 24. verify in your manual.

High Country, 300 WSM, Federal 180gr TSX's, Leup VX-6 3-18, 500 yards, the flier was me. It'll do for elk, straight out of the box. 😀
