I was checking out my barrels today to see how they were looking and decided to do a before/after of the cleaning. I am not one to clean unless it needs it meaning loss of accuracy or junk in the barrel. It had 40 rounds thru it and I'm about to do the final load testing, chrono, tall target test and verification out to 1400.
1. Ran 2 wet patches of Shooters Choice Copper Remover
2. Scrubbed with a wet nylon brush for 1 minute
3. Let sit for 12 minutes
4. Dry patches till clean
5. Wet carbon remover patches
6. Dry patches till clean
7. Scrubbed with oil patch
8. Dry patch
9. Blew with compressed air
Hope this helps

I see lots of copper. If you were attempting to point out you are having a problem with copper, you may want to try another product.
Is it hand lapped premium barrel?

It is a stainless select match that was lapped. Still shot very well, so no problem with copper. Just showing how she looked. I've tried sweets, shooters choice and Montana extreme. None seem to do better than the other of the 3.

I see.
I found Accelerator and Wipeout to remove all copper and break down carbon real well. I tried a lot of other nasty ammonia products but didn't perform as well. After I installed brakes, the borescope became a neccesity.

I do #9 every 10 rounds at the range - 2 or 3 wet patches, then 6-9 dry ones. After shooting, Wipeout for 5 mins, then dry patches, sometimes twice, followed by more #9 as before. Never shoot more than 40 rounds in a sitting. However, I only use patches - start loose and finish tight - figured since I clean so often I shouldn't get buildup... Should I scrub them out every so often as well? No accuracy issues yet.

That is a lot more cleaning than I do. Whatever works for ya.

I would be concerned about the carbon ring buildup in the chamber just in front of the case mouth if you've never or seldom brush the chamber/bore. Cleaning here prevents carbon from pinching the front edge of the case and creating a high pressure bullet release.

Try using bore tech cleaning products they have worked better than the rest for me. Also you said select match barrel what brand? Wilson or shilen or something premium? Not to say either of those won't shoot good just wondering.....
This one is a wilson

Chambered a handful of them, great barrels for the price. But this is the cost of a cheaper barrel. After 10-15 rounds break in shots, down a bench rest quality barrel you don't see that. Well I haven't in my testing. All the wilsons I have chambered shot great but did foul more....

I consider Cooper rifles to be of very good quality and Wilson makes their barrels. I have built over 20 rifles with wilson barrels and all have shot very well.

That would bum me out, that's more copper than my 28 has seen in 400 rounds.
Not bummed out because it shoots very well :)
After I finish testing this load, I'll clean it and run the borescope again. That would be after 100 rounds by the time the testing is done.

I'm not saying the Wilson barrels didn't shoot good. No argument there, all I was stating was the fouling has been significantly less on other barrels. Bartlien, Brux & muller to be my picks. That's just me.
