Guys

i am looking at maybe buying a 7STW but i was wondering how they shoot with the haevy bullets 195 grns
or should i look at a 300 ultra instead

It shoots flatter then the 300 RUM with less recoil and higher BC bullets. I think I will go with one for my next barrel. I saw a load on a custom rifle website, 140 grain bullets at 3400 fps. If I could get this, it would be the ultimate load out to 500 yards. Beyond that a 180 grain Berger at 3200 fps is mighty flat.

ive never shot any thing heavier than 160''s in my two stw''s,
they flew great a 1,000 yds. 7 mm are twisted at 1-9.25 or 1-9 , those twists mite work with the 195's.
the 300 u/mags a great round too!. try shooting both before you buy.
lite bullets turn inside out with this much power and often fragment to nothing. regards jjmp

that's what i am looking for a sendero 7stw, i noticed there is one on gunbroker but i am not sure if i can get it accross the border i have never bought a gun in the states yet i guess it can be done but at what cost????
for that reason i did not bid on it

i do reload and i was looking at the barnes 195 grn but notice that sinclair has 180 bergers that sound pretty good

i shot lots of moose with 180 grn although it was from a 30 cal

I have a close to a twin cartridge to the STW, the 7mm Dakota.
I have exclusively used Richard Graves 200 grain Wildcat with great success. I haven't hunted moose with them, but they have done a great job on elk sized critters on down to coyotes.

Tyler,
First of all, I am one of the odd ducks here at long range hunting.
This 7mm Dakota is chambered in a Remington XP-100 center-grip specialty handgun. Kirby Allen (AKA "fiftydriver") put this jewell together for me.
This has a barrel length just a smidget under 18", with a Lilja 1-7 Twist. A 1-7 is not required for the 200 WC, but we did not know that for sure back in the day when it was put together. BC for my MV is .800:D

It does real good accuracy wise and on game.

.800 wow. So in a rifle it would probably be .810ish. I doubt a 1-9" would stabilize it, 1-8" maybe? With a 26 or 28 inch barrel could I get 2900 fps?

Tyler,
I know for a fact the 1-8 will stabilize the 200WC.
Contact Kirby or several of the guys here you use the 200 WC's, and they can get a solid answer.
FWIW Once Richard comes out with the Aluminum Tipped WC's in 7mm a faster twist will be required and of course you will get a higher BC to boot.

What aluminum tipped weights is he coming out with? A standard 1-9" twist might stabilize a 160 with a tip and have an insane BC, plus higher velocity.

Of course I probably am wrong, I don't even have the STW barrel yet and am just dreaming. Some tipped 6mm bullets for the 6mm AI barrel I have would be sweet. 100 grainers with a BC over .6 at 3200 fps. :)

Not sure on the weights, but I imagine it will be in the heavier for the caliber, which really shines at the longer distances.
FWIW the Aum tips will be more expensive also. but for specialized tasks the should be the "cats meow!"

Holy cow more than 50 cents a bullet...while I'm in high school I will not be able to justify that cost, maybe when I get older.

Great Choice The 7stw

My Buddy Shoots A 7 Stw And We Luv It The Great Thing Is U Can Do It Cheap Just Buy A 7mm Mag And For Less Than 170$ U Can Shoot Out To 1000 Yards WITH ONLY HAVING A GUN SMITH BORE IT OUT And Not Have A Problem The Only Issue Is Some Say The Recoil Is Too Much But I Say Good Choice!:)
