Glad I could be helpful. Will keep adding pics as I clean everything out. RL26 is definitely more stubborn than H1000. Was shocked with the copper buildup. Relieved the throat looks way better.

Just bought the Teslong bore scope for my son and compared it against my Lyman. The clarity and brightness is impressive! Loading the app on his phone was simple and quick without issues. Up and running in minutes. Besides firearm applications, he can use it for automotive repair at work. It's the real deal and I plan to buy one for myself.

Boy, ain't that the truth! Got mine Thursday and I have almost cleaned every centerfire I own. I took Friday off and it took all day to clean three rifles (6mmBR, 6.5-284 & .270 Allen Magnum). The 6BR was the easiest, only 3-400 rounds shot, Shilen barrel and not an over bore cartridge at all. The 6.5-284 (Lothar Walther) and .270 AM (Lilja) both had "attempts" at a carbon ring. A little Kroil and J-B (Non-embedding bore cleaning compound) and these were gone. Neither of these three were coppered up bad at all.
Today I started on my .300WinMag, .223Rem and 7mmRemMag. The .300WinMag (Pac-Nor) and .223Rem (Marlin X7VH factory) weren't bad at all either. Normal carbon throughout and a slight trace of copper in the .223 Rem. Both cleaned up fairly easy. The Pac-Nor actually looks like it's never been shot but I have less than 200 rounds through it.
The 7mmRemMag was a total bear and I think the barrel is not long for this world! It didn't look too bad at initial inspection. I mean it looked like heavy carbon throughout the entire length. I filled the barrel with Hoppes 9 Bore Scrubber, after 15-20 minutes I ran a wet patch of straight ammonia and then dry patched that out. After this I ran the Teslong back through for another inspection and OH MY GUN! It looked like gold inlaid in the grooves! This barrel was coppered up horribly and the throat looks like an alligator's back.
Started at the beginning; ran a wet patch of Kroil and thoroughly saturated it. After that sat for a few minutes I impregnated a patch with J-B and back and forth for 50 strokes. Cleaned this up with a patch soaked with SeaFoam and dry patched that out.
Next inspection: Same thing but copper stopped about the end of the forearm. Repeated above process starting with Kroil, four times! There is a faint hint of copper color there now but I can't believe how rough this barrel is. I took a .257 cal nylon brush and wrapped a fine layer of 0000 steel wool around it and ran that back and four a couple times. Used Kroil and dry patches to clean it up.
The rifle is a Rem 700P, 7mmRemMag and I thought it was in good shape with only a few hundred rounds (maybe 4-500) down the tube. I bought it used from a local gun shop and the previous owner "only shot a couple of boxes" through it. I gave it to my son over ten years ago and I know he hasn't shot it very much, may be 50 rounds (he doesn't need group therapy
like me). What an eye opener. I really was surprised.I really like my Teslong, now I have proof I need a new barrel, LoL!

I just saw these... It is like a bore brush but rubber intended to squeegee the bore. Should be a good plug or just whittle a cork form a wine bottle to keep it simple!

Finally got a chance to shoot the 300PRC and 6.5PRC after cleaning them all up. Both shooting less than 0.5 MOA @ 300yds. Much better than the 1 to 1.5 MOA that they were at. Guess I learned the downside to RL26. Soaking will be added to my cleaning regimen.

My bore scope will be here tomorrow. Something is leaving a rub mark on the bullet of my 300RUM and it's has some resistance when pushing the bolt all the way forward. I think it might carbon build up. Only 40 rounds since the last cleaning but maybe I didn't it clean enough this whole time. Guess I'll find out!

OK guys, I've been working at this for 4 hours the past couple days. Used boretech carbon, flitz, clr, and tons of brushing even with a drill and I still have this ring.
Still yields pressure on low pressure loads. Set the barrel back and call it good? Is this an actual carbon ring or something else?

On boiler tubes we called that alligator skin . It was caused by over heating the tubes so the surface material was burned and the metal structure changed . The surface was no longer chrome -molly or Stainless Steel . But then that's boiler tubes not rifle barrels . I think in rifle barrels they call it fire cracking .

Clean, clean clean and when you get tired, soak and then continue cleaning. JB bore paste with the felt. Scrub with a bronze brush and carbon cleaner. Soak and scrub again. It'll come out.
Ive seen it in my 308 comp gun after a day of 150 rounds. It'll come out.

Use JB. it's what worked best in my rifles at the start of the thread after trying Wipeout, kg and all the bore tech products
