Has anyone had any performance issues on game from Nosler seconds? I got to get more 142LRAB and the seconds are $10 a box cheaper on Shooters Pro Shop than the normal ones.

Thanks

I'm probably wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. But have been told that when they are sorting bullets they see one with a blemish and when they remove it they may be scrapping off several bullets at a time and only one has a blemish.

Would a blemish cause an issue with the bonding of the bullet? Would do they consider blemishes?

20 years of shooting blemished and over runs from Shooter Pro Shop and I've never had a single problem with them. I've shot probably 5k of those bullets over my lifetime. Sometimes you will see oils or fingerprints or the plastic tip might be missing on 1 or 2 oh and check the weights! The grain weights can vary 1 to 2 grains so you'll want to sort them accordingly.

When you buy a box of "blem" bullets but there isn't a single blemish anywhere, you've gotta wonder why they are farming them out at a discount.
I shot a bunch of them for awhile but that nagging question convinced me that they weren't worth the savings and barrel wear. If you couldn't get the bullet to group; is it because of the powder, charge, oal, primer, or "the blem"? When working up a load I want to be confident that the bullet is as consistent as possible while I work with all the other variables.
Using a "blem" for hunting wouldn't even be a consideration.

That's a good thought for sure. I have seen abrasions and oil residue etc on the bullets, but as Nosler decribes under the blemish policy products with imperfections and deformities are scrapped. And only cosmetic (meaning appearance) are labeled 2nds. I feel very confident Nosler wouldn't take on the liability of something getting 50k to 65k lbs of pressure and failing to their company name or risk. That's kind of my hayseed way of thinking. I could be 100% wrong but so far I've had zero issues.
