Over the last couple of weeks I've really been mulling over a 28 nosler with a 1:8 for launching hammer 155s( lead free state). Pretty self in the fierce carbon fury for said task.
I have been seeing some pretty amazing hand loads on here and hammer time with the 143/155.
But, now weatherby is twisting the 7mm wby with a 1:8.5, I have gobs of brass and dies as well as a rifle in 7mm wby.
Would the 28 offer any appreciable benefit over the my current 1:9.5 or new 7wby with a 1:8.5.
The ballistics calculator says sort if but not really.
Are they easy to load for? Components available now? I see adg makes 28 brass. Albeit sold out.

You just need to get on the list for adg brass they will send you an email and seems like it goes in 24-48hrs. Seems like it shows up about quarterly. I have both a 28N and a 7bee. I alse have a 7WSM. I like all of them. You have to get a 28 because you want a 28, not because it is much better. It is a 7STW in a different dress. It is more than a 7bee with very short barrel life. If you value a little more speed than life, she's your date to the dance. Fresh, new, and challenging. If you value long lasting relationships, an old friend, then it is the bee. Only you know for sure

Steve at Hammer should be a great resource for your questions, regarding each rifle and twist rates. Make sure to mention how much freebore your W'by has. That might be a consideration as he recommended a .020 jump to start load development for my chambering. W'by has been known to make the jumps very long.

My current wby shoots the 143 just dandy.
Think I'm just looking for an excuse to buy the fierce.
Have been trying to get weatherby to spin me up a carbon mark in 7mm weatherby for 3 years with no luck

If I can get 800 accurate rounds down range thatll get me about 6-7 years before needing a new tube.
Would 800 slow fire be feasible?

Stay with your 7 Wby since you already have all the reloading materials. You won't see that much of a difference between it and the 28 Nosler. Now, if you really want a 28 Nosler, that is a whole different story. I have a 7 STW and absolutely love it. A buddy owns a 7 Wby and there isn't really much of a difference between the two of them

One point to make regarding the Fierce:

Be sure to get them to send you a print of the chamber for Freebore and Throat. Then go over those numbers with the folks at Hammer to decide if this cartridge/bullet combination will work in the Fierce rifle. Be prepared, not caught off guard.

There are so many different variables which contribute to muzzle velocity and barrel life, it's hard to make truly definitive statements about either. Barrel length and intensity of the powder formula will make the most difference.

We build and shoot a lot of the 7STWs because they are extremely popular with hunters. However, in the real world, you won't find that there is any serious difference between the 28 Nosler, 7mm WBY or the 7STW. Sure there might be 50-75 ft/sec. spread but that's inconsequential. You will never have all the rifles you want to try so increase your stable and get the Fierce if the chamber can be used for the Hammers.

My Nosler cartridge experience is just their 22. It eats brass. Not worth the trouble or expense after a few months of range dates. I had a crush but it passed. Its collecting dust these days, ahh the memories...

Why not the 177gr Hammer Hunter: you will have the 1-8 twist to aide your launch?

Reading through all the posts on here, rokslide and the hammer time forum the added speed makes up for the loss of bc and results in more spectacular on game performance with the 143&155

My choice would be the STW. The two I have, one a factory remi and other a custom win 70 just shoot great groups. They both will put Swift 150's in very nice .5 moa groups. I have seen two through-and-through with factory remi premium 150 A-frames on 400 yd elk.
Just really trust this round.
